The experimental work focuses on the ductility of the reinforced concrete (RC) seismic structural walls in buildings of mid-rise height. A full-scale five-story structural wall was tested to obtain results, still scarce in literature, without the influence of size effect. An unusual detailing with large diameter longitudinal rebars uniformly distributed in the wall length was adopted to prevent premature web rebar fracture and shear sliding. The plastic hinge length and deformations were evaluated in detail. The results show the high ductility of the wall that reached a total drift of 2.5%, larger than those usually required in design.  相似文献

Two-story three-bay reinforced concrete frames with and without chevron brace was tested using pseudo dynamic test method. The chevron braces were implemented to the interior span of the RC frame. Chevron-braced frame was observed to be effective to control inter-story drift demands. Based on the observed damage state and dynamic response of the test frames, performance states were discussed for different scales of Duzce ground motions. The test results were compared with the results of the nonlinear time history analysis. The analysis results were capable of estimating the base shear capacity and displacement demands with a reasonable accuracy.  相似文献

The SAFE experimental programme consists of a series of 10 specimens of shear walls, with different reinforcement ratios, tested until their ultimate capacity under seismic input motion by the pseudo dynamic method. A unique input signal is used, calibrated for controlling the seismic demand. Its input central frequency is selected so that for some specimens it is lower than their eignenfrequency, while for other ones it is the opposite. In conclusion there is clear experimental evidence that design margins are much larger in the second case (input central frequency larger than structure eignenfrequency) than in the first one.  相似文献

A thorough investigation of earthquake-induced collapse of reinforced concrete frames is presented. The inherent correlation between the nonlinear behavior of key components and the collapse mechanism of overall frame is examined through concurrent collapse tests of both frame and key components. Important issues in the component models are investigated through calibration against experiments, leading to a comprehensive structural system model. Both test and simulation indicate that the seismic performance are predominately governed by the key columns, whereas the energy dissipation capacity is somewhat affected by the joints. This study offers systematic experimental data and numerical models for future collapse assessments.  相似文献

Analytical fragility curves were developed for curved single-frame concrete box-girder bridges with seat-type abutments. The bridges incorporated the current seismic design considerations and modern details that were recently adopted by CALTRANS. Fragility curves demonstrated that columns were the most vulnerable components, while the modern seismic details successfully protected the abutment piles from damage during large earthquakes. Increasing the subtended angle affected the seismic vulnerability at both the component and system levels. Functional relationships were proposed to evaluate the seismic vulnerability of curved bridges. Moreover, fragility curve parameters were shown to depend on soil condition and spectral characteristics of ground motions.  相似文献

Various loss assessment methodologies have been proposed and developed over the past decades to provide risk assessment on a regional scale. There is an increasing need, however, to provide engineers with practical tools for building-specific loss assessment. Recently, progress has been made towards probabilistic loss models such as the PEER framework. However, as comprehensive probabilistic methodologies could be too complex for practicing engineers, this article presents a simplified probabilistic loss assessment methodology that builds on a direct displacement-based framework. The methodology is tested via examination of two RC frame buildings and encouragingly shows similar results to the PEER methodology.  相似文献

The objective of this article is to study the effects of structural nonlinear behavior on Floor Response Spectra (FRS) of existing reinforced concrete frames. This study examines how the FRS vary with the level of post-elastic behavior in buildings of different number of stories and masonry infill wall configurations. The effect of damping modeling assumptions is also investigated. Differences and similarities with findings from the literature are discussed. On the basis of the obtained results, a commentary on the adequacy of basic assumptions used in predictive equations proposed by different seismic codes is offered.  相似文献

Although a significant number of studies have been conducted on the behavior of the reinforced concrete beam-column joints retrofitted with FRP materials, limited investigation considered the overall seismic behavior of the retrofitted frames. In this article, experimental and numerical studies are performed on a scaled-down eight-story and two full scaled low-rise ordinary moment resisting frames (OMRFs) retrofitted with FRP at the joints. Additional, rotational stiffness of the joints is implemented into pushover models to predict seismic performance and behavior factor of the retrofitted frames. Results indicate that FRP retrofitting is more effective than steel braces for low- and medium-rise OMRFs.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The vulnerability of masonry infills within reinforced concrete (rc) frames under out-of-plane loading induced by earthquakes has been observed in several past earthquakes through severe damage and often total collapse. Although the infill panels are assumed as non-structural elements, their damage or collapse is not desirable, given the possible consequences in terms of human life losses and repair or reconstruction costs.

Therefore, it is important to gather better insight on the out-of-plane behavior of existing infills so that strengthening guidelines can be derived. In this scope, the main objective of this study is to analyze the out-of-plane experimental behavior of masonry infilled frames that are characteristic of Portuguese buildings and can be seen in other south European countries. In the experimental study carried out, different parameters affecting the out-of-plane response of infilled frames were considered, namely, workmanship, existence of openings and prior in-plane damage. The experimental program was designed to test six half-scale specimens. The out-of-plane loading was applied uniformly to the brick infills by means of an airbag to simulate the effect of earthquakes.  相似文献
