Chinese views of Australian foreign policy: Not a flattering picture

The economic importance and strategic significance of Australia's relationship with China means that bilateral ties have become a major focus of attention in the scholarly and policymaking communities in Australia. Understandably enough perhaps, less attention has been given to the way the relationship is understood in China. This article addresses this absence in the literature by providing an overview of some of the more important contributions to the discussion in China. The most important point that emerges from such an analysis is that there is an ‘asymmetry of interest’ in the two countries, with Australia occupying a far less prominent place in Chinese policy discussions than China does in Australia. Equally noteworthy is the fact that the study of Sino-Australian relations in China is characterised by a greater variety of perspectives than it is in Australia. Appreciating this diversity is an essential part of developing a more accurate understanding of the policymaking milieu in China.     

A new fossil petalurid dragonfly (Odonata: Petaluroidea: Aktassiidae) from the Cretaceous of China

The new petalurid species Pseudocymatophlebia boda is described from Lower Cretaceous strata of Inner Mongolia, China. It provides additional morphological characters for this genus, which has been previously recorded from the Lower Cretaceous of England. Together with Aktassia, it is the second aktassiid genus with a very wide distribution, even though this family remains known only from Eurasia. Furthermore, a new name, Brachaktassia gen. nov., is proposed to replace the brachiopod genus Aktassia Popov, 1976.

中国边疆史地研究的史书编纂在鸦片战争前后出现了新的发展趋向 ,主要表现在 :由边疆史地研究引发对域外史地的研究 ;史地学者能够根据社会变动的需要 ,灵活变通地运用史书体裁、体例 ,撰述了一批具有个性色彩和时代特色的史地著作。这是对章学诚寻求史学变革之道的有力回应 ,反映了中国传统学术的重要变化。     

DISPERSION FORMS: AN INTERACTION OF MARKET ACCESS,COMPETITION, AND URBAN COSTS*

ABSTRACT This paper analyzes a two‐region model including multiple industries with different transport costs. Two results are derived. First, dispersion occurs for small transport costs, but the specific dispersion patterns depend on the level of urban costs. This results from an interaction of the market‐access effect on consumers, the market‐access effect on firms, the competition effect, and the urban‐cost effect. Second, decreasing transport cost tends to let industries with lower transport costs disperse, although the shares of industries locating in the larger region are not in order of their transport costs. We further provide some empirical data concerning the second result.

历史当事人的记述与历史真实——新见《剿共随军日记》释读

<剿共随军日记>是一本历史当事人的记述.它虽有强烈的"反共"宣传性,但也记录了国共两党、两军不少"历史真实",如"剿共"粤军与国民党"中央军"的矛盾关系、共产党和红军的组织与军纪优于国民党和"剿共"粤军、"剿共"各军的宣传工作不如红军、"剿共"粤军的募夫制弊端丛生,等等.对待历史当事人的记述,应依据其记述历史的立场、动机和方法,采取冷静、清醒、理性的科学分析态度.     

人工神经网络：一种新的旅游市场需求预测系统

本探究了人工神经网络(ANN)作为一种新型的预测系统在旅游市场需求研究中的重要性,并指出：在对旅游需求进行预测时,人工神经网络较之多元回归分析方法适用范围更广,显性更强。     

20世纪上半叶中国“人文地理学”与“人生地理学”内涵演变研究

当今学界对于我国地理学发展史上“人文地理学”与“人生地理学”二者的内涵界定和关系阐述并不完全准确。通过对20世纪上半叶地理学科文献的解读,可以发现二者存在三个阶段的演化:第一阶段,为传统方志地学与近代人文地理学交汇下萌发,以分类呈现人文事象为主的“人文地理学”;第二阶段,为批判方志传统,主张以人地关系论为核心,并在法国学派思想影响下产生的“人生地理学”;第三阶段,为批判人地关系论,在景观论与辩证唯物主义理论相结合的背景下提出的“人文地理学”。在三个不同阶段,“Human Geography”一词未曾改变,但在中国代表的内涵迥异,相互之间存在部分的继承,但更多的是通过批判而形成的思想演化。其根源在于西方近代地理学思想传入中国后,与中国地方的学术环境及时代背景产生交融,继而形成内涵各异的学术思想变体。     

关于第二轮修志记述非公有制经济的思考

改革开放以来,随着非公有制经济在国民经济中的地位与作用日益重要,其内容载入志书已成必然。志书要记述好非公有制经济的内容,就必须对其内涵有相对准确的理解。在第二轮志书中根据狭义的非公有制经济概念,在特定的范围内,处理为以记述个体私营经济为主。在已出版的三级志书中,对非公有制经济的记述程度参差不齐。省级志书中,由于涉及的层次较高、地域范围较广,非公有制经济的资料较为丰富,故记述的内容也较充实。市级和县级志书中,有关非公有制经济的内容有所减少,差异亦较明显。非公有制经济的内容,宜采用在经济部类各篇章中相对集中的记述方式。
