Tapping into a Different Cultural Tradition: Sir William Temple's Aesthetic Innovations

Studies of Sir William Temple usually associate him with the English Battle of the Books. Since his defense of the old against the new in European arts and sciences was known even in his day to be inadequate, his role in the literary history of England has so far been largely trivialized. Challenging this conventional reading, this essay strives to show that the innovation and significance of Temple's aesthetics was closely connected with his somewhat known—but hitherto insufficiently scrutinized—longstanding interest in the cultural tradition of the Far East.     

明清边疆社会的习俗互化——以海南女性生活为例

From the Qin and Han periods to the Qing Dynasty, there was a constant flow of people from China’s mainland to Hainan Island. These immigrants and indigenous people developed Hainan together. Particularly in the Ming and Qing dynasties, they adopted customs from each other. By tracing the changes of women’s lives in Hainan during this period, this paper studies how different ethnic customs influenced each other.     

基于SOFM的环渤海地区乡村地域功能分区

以2008年3项乡村地域功能态和2000-2008年3项功能的增长势作为指示指标,利用Matlab软件的SOFM程序进行环渤海地区乡村地域功能分区,为加快形成特色鲜明、优势互补、功能协同的乡村地域空间格局提供科学依据。通过修正最终划分为经济发展、粮食生产、生态保育三个主导功能区,并细化为13个功能亚区。经济发展主导功能区主要分布在大城市周边、渤海沿线以及交通干线附近,是区域的经济核心区和城镇化快速发展区,其功能定位是保持经济技术领先优势并优化空间布局。粮食生产主导功能区主要分布在平原集中区,粮食总产量和人均粮食占有量均处于较高水平,但经济发展缓慢;围绕主导功能定位建设高产、稳产、高效的"大农业区",提升粮食综合生产能力。生态保育功能区集中分布在山地丘陵区,优先保障生态建设与修复的土地需求,生态唯先的组织生产、生活活动。     

两代流动人口在城镇定居意愿的代际延续和变化——基于福建省的调查

本文利用一项福建省流动人口抽样调查资料,对两代流动人口在城镇定居意愿的差异进行了深入考察。结果表明,新生代流动人口在城镇的定居意愿虽已发生不同于第一代流动人口的变化,但在整体上仍延续了前者的特点而未发生从循环流动向在城镇定居的根本性转变。同时,两代流动人口在城镇的定居意愿除受到户籍制度的限制外,还受到流动人口在以劳动密集型行业为主导的次级劳动市场高度集中、就业不稳定、社会保障水平低、在城市的生存能力有限等状况的制约。这些结论对制定符合流动人口实际的相关政策具有重要启示。     

基于环境态度的城市居民环境友好行为意向及认知差异——以海口市为例

居民的行为是社会对环境产生影响的关键因素,对环境有着直接或间接的影响。遏制环境退化,实现可持续发展不仅仅取决于政府,同时与公众的环境态度和行为也有着密不可分的关系。环境态度是否会影响人们实施环境友好行为是研究中的一个重要问题。本研究采用在海口市的调查数据,分析了居民所持的环境态度对其环境友好行为意向的影响。采用"新生态范示"量表(NEP)测量居民的环境态度,并根据环境态度倾向,运用K-Means聚类法将居民划分为近生态中心主义者、近人类中心主义者,在此基础上,应用独立样本t检验,比较了持不同环境态度者在环境友好行为意向与认知上的差异。     

Ritual and Politics: An Examination of the 1072 Primal Ancestor Debate in the Northern Song

In considering the vital role played by imperial rites in claiming political legitimacy and maintaining social stability, Chinese emperors endeavored to present themselves as the perfect model for their subjects in terms of ritual performance. Focusing on a Northern Song (960–1127) ritual debate over the placement of imperial ancestors’ spirit tablets and ancestral chambers, especially that of the Primal Ancestor, this study aims to contribute to a better understanding of discussions on ancestral rituals and how they were intensified during the implementation of Wang Anshi’s New Policies. More importantly, this study reveals the differences between Song scholar-officials’ political positions and intellectual interests, thus providing a new interpretation of Song factionalism from the perspective of ritual politics.
