Ethnic nationalism,evolutionary psychology and Genetic Similarity Theory*

Abstract. Genetic Similarity Theory extends Anthony D. Smith's theory of ethno‐symbolism by anchoring ethnic nepotism in the evolutionary psychology of altruism. Altruism toward kin and similar others evolved in order to help replicate shared genes. Since ethnic groups are repositories of shared genes, xenophobia is the ‘dark side’ of human altruism. A review of the literature demonstrates the pull of genetic similarity in dyads such as marriage partners and friendships, and even large groups, both national and international. The evidence that genes incline people to prefer others who are genetically similar to themselves comes from studies of social assortment, differential heritabilities, the comparison of identical and fraternal twins, blood tests, and family bereavements. DNA sequencing studies confirm some origin myths and disconfirm others; they also show that in comparison to the total genetic variance around the world, random co‐ethnics are related to each other on the order of first cousins.

Analyse des pratiques musicales ?. Ses travaux portent sur les œuvres, les pratiques et esthétiques musicales savantes. Il a notamment codirigé, avec Bernard Stiegler, Révolutions industrielles de la musique, numéro spécial des Cahiers de médiologie (n^o 18, 2004). Governing Paris—Planning and Political Conflict in Île-de-France

In this paper we examine some of the major planning challenges facing the Paris region and we locate these in the context of problems of institutional coordination and cooperation. Finding the right institutions for metropolitan governance is a challenge for most of Europe's large cities. Our approach to the Paris region emphasizes the need to understand the evolution of institutions of governance and the struggles between political actors around these institutional legacies. Political competition motivates key actors in the multi-level governance of the region. We examine the struggle to develop new social housing and conflicts around transport policy in Paris. Political conflict and different perspectives on regional planning stand in the way of solutions to current problems. In the final part of the paper we discuss how potential political and institutional solutions might develop.     

西方旅游者在华旅游活动研究——基于西方旅游批发商的中国游产品分析

有关西方旅游者在华旅游活动的现有研究缺乏系统性,且几乎都借助于中国官方机构的统计信息。由于统计方法存在明显的缺陷,这些统计信息往往无法有效地反映旅游者的实际活动轨迹和活动内容。本文以西方旅游批发商的产品样册为基础,运用自创的分析方法研究西方旅游者的在华旅游活动。研究表明,西方旅游者主要是受中华文明吸引而来华旅游,西方各国旅游批发商推出的中国游产品没有明显的差异性。     

液相色谱质谱联用法研究红花染纺织品褪色分子机理

以红花染纺织品作为主要研究对象,通过紫外光和LED两种光老化方式,研究不同褪色因素影响下纺织品中显色组分红花苷的降解变化情况,实验发现不同酸化作用对红花苷造成不同的影响。采用液相色谱质谱联用的方法,鉴定出红花苷、芹菜素等多种组分,并首次从红花中鉴定出国外报道的但一直未确定的组分Ct4的分子结构,实际是三香豆酰亚精胺,一种酚酰胺类化合物,可作为一种染色工艺指标对现代染和古代染色工艺进行区分。以故宫院藏两件红花染褪色纺织品文物为例阐述褪色机理,显色组分红花苷的降解,产生不同程度的裂化产物小分子,使原本微量存在的三香豆酰亚精胺相对含量增高,从而造成褪色明显,文物在长期日晒下正面原本红色外观呈现橘色打底。同时强调了博物馆应高度重视相同类型文物保存环境中的挥发性酸性气体监测。
