This essay surveys the main reforms carried out by the Habsburg governments in Lombardy and Tuscany from the 1730s to around 1790 in the light of recent historical literature. Venturi's biographical approach to the theme is discussed in the first part of the essay, which then sets out to compare reforming activities in the two states in the fields of the administration of justice, ecclesiastical policy, and public finance. The drive towards centralization and uniformity is identified as the main aspect of the Milan reform movement, to the liberal and humanitarian tendencies of Peter Leopold's government in Tuscany. 相似文献

The production of amber ornaments occurred in Italy during the Eneolithic (E)–Early Bronze Age (EBA), although very few beads from the Italian peninsula have been found and analysed. The number of data available for provenience study of Bronze Age ambers is larger, but still a precise picture of when and to what extent the local sources of amber were exploited is lacking. In the present work, 22 amber finds from six Sicilian sites have been studied and analysed by infrared spectroscopy, in particular with DRIFT (diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transformed) analyses. The amber samples are dated between the Eneolithic and the Final Bronze Age–Early Iron Age and are from the collections of the P. Orsi Museum, in Syracuse (Sicily). The data show that only simetite was used in South Italy in the Late Eneolithic (LE)–EBA. In the Bronze Age, the exploitation of simetite shows different intensity in different chronological phases. The results are discussed in comparison with the information available for coeval European ambers. 相似文献

The lakeshore site of Ishango in Zaïre has been interpreted as an early locus of a generalized fishing adaptation or aquatic civilization which spread rapidly across eastern and northern Africa during the wetter climatic conditions of the early to mid-Holocene. New evidence from Ishango implies that this adaptation may have developed in the late Pleistocene and that its technology subsequently diffused to other regions where it was associated with a range of lithic styles, varying economies, and occasional ceramics.
Résumé Le gisement lacustre d'Ishango au Zaïre a été interprété comme l'ancien locus d'une adaptation généralisée à la pêche ou d'une civilisation aquatique qui s'est étendue rapidement dans l'Afrique orientale et septentrionale au cours des conditions climatiques plus humides de la première moitié de l'Holocène. De nouveaux indices à Ishango impliquent que cette adaptation a pu se développer au cours du Pléistocène tardif, et que sa technologie s'est diffusée ultérieurement dans d'autres régions où elle était associée à toute une série de styles lithiques, à des économies variées, et de temps en temps à des céramiques.相似文献

Contemporary Iranian cinema has enjoyed wide success on the international scene—winning awards at film festivals, receiving praise by critics, and being screened in many countries around the world. But this success has another side to it: at home in Iran, the movie theater attendance is in decline and a range of players, including individuals, policymakers and government entities continue to meddle in shaping its future. Throughout the twentieth century and during the two decades of post-revolutionary successes abroad, Iranian cinema developed its own unique style and aesthetic. A cinema which was sometimes nurtured and financially encouraged by the government, yet at other times censored or banned by it. This paper provides a brief survey of the history of Iranian cinema since the 1900s in order to reveal the paradoxical issues both propelling and bedeviling its development and the role of principal actors involved in fashioning an Iranian national cinema. 相似文献
