FLPMA: A Decade of Management Under the ELM Organic Act

This article assesses the impact on public land management policy in the west following a decade's experience under the Federal Land Policy and Management Act (FLPMA). The assessment first describes the political and institutional forces that converged to produce the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) Organic act and then identifies three major policy innovations found in the Act. In conclusion, the article assesses the impact of these policy innovations of FLPMA on management of the public lands.     

Foodways Archaeology: A Decade of Research from the Southeastern United States

Interest in the study of foodways through an archaeological lens, particularly in the American Southeast, is evident in the abundance of literature on this topic over the past decade. Foodways as a concept includes all of the activities, rules, and meanings that surround the production, harvesting, processing, cooking, serving, and consumption of food. We study foodways and components of foodways archaeologically through direct and indirect evidence. The current synthesis is concerned with research themes in the archaeology of Southeastern foodways, including feasting, gender, social and political status, and food insecurity. In this review, I explore the information that can be learned from material remains of the foodstuffs themselves and the multiple lines of evidence that can help us better understand the meanings, rituals, processes, and cultural meanings and motivations of foodways.

《当代江西简史》是江西省委组织众多学者用十年之功纂修的一部史著。十年磨一剑,这部史著当属镆铘式精品。 当代人修当代史固然有史料易得等有利条件,但也有“不识庐山真面目,只缘身在此山中”之类的困难。而该著扬长避短,以历史与逻辑相统一的方法,勾画出站立起来了的江西人民在党的领导下,艰苦奋斗,奋发图强,战胜各种困难,迎来“江花江草处处鲜”的历史画     

华人网络与韩人网络的比较研究

通过当前韩国对于海外华人四个方面的"似是而非"认识的分析,对华商网络的倾向与特征、建设韩民族网络等问题的探讨,得出结论:韩国华侨与韩国所理解的海外华人之间存在很大的差异;当代韩国政府希望能像中国充分发挥海外华人的优势那样,使海外韩人发展成为韩国在21世纪的新的成长动力并加以利用的认识是一种错误的"乐观判断";海外华人对祖国的向心力,不只是来自爱国情,更重要的是其生存保障与利益的实现;中韩两国的侨务政策存在区别,中国致力于"护侨",而韩国的目光集中于"用侨"。     

A Multi-ethnic City in Transition: Vilnius's Stormy Decade, 1939-1949

An American historian traces major changes in the demographic character of Vilnius during 1939-1949, a period encompassing the dislocation of its population and destruction during World War II as well as the city's ethnic and physical transformation prompted by incorporation into the USSR. More specifically, the paper, based in part on archival material, details and contrasts the circumstances prevailing during several distinctive periods in the city's mid-20th century history (September 1939-June 1941, June 1941-July 1944, and July 1944-1949), when it was exposed to five successive state jurisdictions (Poland, Lithuania, twice USSR, and Nazi Germany) and became the new Soviet capital of Lithuania. 近十年李鸿章与洋务运动研究综述

晚清的洋务运动,影响了中国的近代化进程和改革开放;洋务运动最主要的倡导者和实践者李鸿章,又影响了这一运动的进程和结局.近十年来,史学界主要从李鸿章与近代政治外交、近代海防、近代企业、近代教育四个方面对李鸿章与洋务运动的关系进行了研究探讨,较客观、全面地论述了李鸿章领导洋务运动的是非功过与经验教训.     

Religion and Politics in the Howard Decade

The interaction between religion and politics is varied, complex and often heated. It involves constitutional issues, voting behaviour, party composition and electoral competition, faith-based public administration, advocacy and lobbying by churches, mutual criticism by churches and the state, and the public presentation of religious values. This article is a comprehensive mapping and discussion of a range of the major religion and politics issues in Australia since the election of the Howard government in 1996. This has been a decade in which religion has had a higher political profile than at any time since the 1950s Labor Split. One feature has been the rise to prominence of Catholics in the Coalition parties, whereas they featured heavily on the other side during the Labor Split. It is a more intellectually interesting decade than the 1950s because the influence of religion has crossed denominational and faith boundaries from the mainstream Christian churches to the newer Evangelical Christian churches and to non-Christian religions such as Islam. The overall impact of religious intervention appears to have favoured the Coalition parties, but many unanswered questions remain about the motivation and impact of these developments, and there are numerous opportunities for further research.     

华人网络与基督教网络的相互嵌入——近代新加坡华人基督教跨国网络探析

论文分析探讨了近代新加坡华人基督教跨国网络的发展历程和近代华人基督教的跨国网络结构。认为近代新加坡华人基督教跨国网络大致可以分成三个发展阶段,它是在"基督教网络"与"华人网络"相互嵌入的过程中形成的,这个过程不是单方主导的结果,而是双向互为的。在这个中西交汇的网络结构中,"基督教网络"和"华人网络"分别成为对方可资利用的资源。一方面,基督教通过"华人网络"中的地缘、血缘等关系网络,扩大自己的影响和传播范围;另一方面,华人也利用"基督教网络"拓展了自己的生存空间。     

A Complete History of Early Christianity: Taking the “Heretics” Seriously1

The heterodox have been treated unfairly within the histories of mainstream Christian tradition, whether by their ecclesiastical opponents or by recent and current scholarship. This article outlines the place of Christian Gnostic belief and practices in the processes of self‐definition and institutionalization that took place within the early history of Christianity and makes a plea to reinstate the “heretics” to their rightful place in any academic discussion of the history and beliefs of Christianity.
