Back in 2014,during the opening ceremony for the Tibet Yak Museum,a hoard of guests came in from Beijing as well as from areas throughout China. An adequate venue for accommodation for such a large event was an absolute must.Tibet Hotel was one suggestion. The location of its grounds was rather close to the museum's campus. The idea indeed made it convenient to hold various sorts of activities, regardless of the fact the hotel was somewhat old with little to no luxurious facilities, though the staff is known for excellent service.  相似文献

The world knows China is building a railway from Qinghai to Tibet, a project that began in the early days of this new century. The Tibetans hail it as a golden bridge. How much progress has been made in this regard? Beginning with this issue, we will devote some space to this subject.  相似文献

Payam Town in Zongba County, hometown of Yexei, is skirted by the Xinjiang-Tibet Highway, which, in recent years, hasbeen used by an increasing number of visitors to Tibet. Thisprompted Yexei to give up herding and start a hotel in 1995. Forlocals, it was akin to the first space satellite being launched fromthe area."We herders have been in livestock breeding for centuries. Can Yexei succeed?" many asked themselves. In the five years since the Yak Hotel was first set up with theinvestment …  相似文献

<正>Tibet abounds with large and small glaciers that are all classified as solid water reservoirs and form an exclusive feature of the landscape of Tibet. I have visited the Karuplha Glacier twice. The first was just an opportunity to see it from a distance, but on the second I almost reached the closet part of the glacier and could have reached out to touch it.  相似文献

On October 15,2005, the newly-built thasa Rajiway Station, facing the magnificent Potala Palace from a distance, was decorated with fresh flowers and colored flags. Efforts are being made to prepare for the trial-operation of the Qinghair Tibet Railway in July 2006. This success reminds us of a man who contributes so much for the success of the “sky way“.  相似文献

正In June 2018, China's Tibet organized a group of journalists to travel to several counties within Chamdo, including such places as the city of Chamdo itself and the counties of Jomda, Gonjo, and Markham, and it was in these places that they were to conduct interviews with the local people.Despite advanced technology and convenient transportation becoming introduced to the region, Tibet is still an unknown land of mystery to many around the world. The geography of Tibet certainly does a lot to  相似文献

Home Visits
Once the work team had settled in, we started visiting the villagers in their homes to get the lay of the land. There are four unincorporated villages in Yerpa: Gogo and Yulo are downstream on the east bank of Nujiang River; Sengo, the one in the middle, is the seat of the village committee, and Dangran Village, a hour's walk from Sengo (upstream and to the west) is the smallest and most remote. Accordingto old statistics, there was a population of 489 in the 78 households in Yerpa Village. That made it a relatively big administrative village. It is also typical of the eastern river valley region of Tibet, with features such as deep valleys, steep mountains, a widely dispersed population over a wide area, the shortage of arable land, a dry climate and lack of transport facilities. Currently a road runs past the village but there is still no electricity, telecommunications, schools, medical services.., or safe drinking water. In the past people had to use a cable slide to cross the Nujiang River and then walk another 10 kilometers to get to Junyong Village in Dombang Township of Dzogong County. In order to continue on to the county seat of Dzogong there was another steep mountain to climb. On looking up from Yerpa Village, the highway was like a thread hanging from the clouds. The villagers used to climb Khekela on the other side of Nujiang River to reach Temtok Town of Dzogong County. Our legs almost gave way just from looking at that narrow trail. But the villagers had to rely on it to go to the nearest town for selling produce and shopping. Sometimes they would return on the same day. Our visit started from the village of Dangran. Since it was farthest from where we were, we decided to tackle the hard stuff first. Dangran Village had sent several horses and mules to us so we could use them to carry our gifts, plus a bottle of cooking oil bought in the county seat, for each family. On the gravel road that doubled as a water channel, the horses were fine but the mules liked to head for the thorn bushes by the roadside.  相似文献

The term Lang is a place name,it means "Dragon Valley","fairy place to live" in the Tibetan language. In 1911,the Qing dynasty officer Chen Quzhen was posted here, stationed in Lunang Dongjiu. He later described the Lunang area as a place "covered with grass, rocks blocking the way".2 Since the National Highway 318 was built in 1954,at the altitude of 3,700 meters,Lunang has become the gateway to Bayi town, which is about 80 kilometers from Lunang. The natural beauty of Lunang has made it a tourist town along the Sichuan-Tibet Road Line.  相似文献

The township sent out a notice that all villagers should be photographed as part of the datacollection effort for the New Rural Cooperative Medical Scheme (NCMS) and it was hoped that the work team could help carry this out. We all wanted to help, but knew that it would not be easy. It was during a busy farming season, so it was difficult to gather the villagers (most of whom were busy working in the fields). First we set up a simple photography studio in the village committee. The only piece of equipment we owned was a tripod and we used the bare wall of the committee building as a backdrop for the photos. As the day drew to a close, the villagers came in twos and threes, most of them straight from the fields. Then facilities for villagers to freshen-up were provided, including a basin of water, towels, and comb for them to tidy up before the shoot. But the villagefolks were often too shy to wash up in front of us, and even after our gentle persuasion, they would just splash some water on their faces. Sometimes, we, the photographers, had to help them with their hair and general appearance. Fortunately, they were completely at ease with that.  相似文献

Effort made to preserve King Gesar began soon after the end of the chaotic "cultural revolution" (1966-76). In 1980, the Tibet Autonomous Region set up an office to deal with the work; it was placed under the Tibet Academy of Social Sciences in 1985.Office members found a total of 40-odd folk balladeers able to sing the epic. They ranged from the elderly to youngsters. Nineteen of them were invited to put their voice on tape, and 122 volumes of the singing editions were recorded on 4,500 tapes.  相似文献

Extending for 1,956 kilometers from Xi’ning of Qinghai in the east to the city of Lhasa in the west, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway traverses the broad highland as well as a deserted no-man’s land in the Northern Tibet. As the highest and the longest railway in the world,it employs multiple security measures, the most ancient of which is to maintain a watch by employing human overseers. This involves a unique group, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway Patrol Team that undertakes this special task. The team carries out a strict management with military discipline.Every day,the patrol team members work hard in this lonely and deserted place.Once you take the Qinghai-  相似文献

The Township Village of Gamdeling is situated in District Naiqung, County of Doilungdeqen, Lhasa. It is the place where I began to establish a relationship with Tibet. Halfa Century's Concern and Remembrance In the early spring of 1963, as a junior student majoring in Tibetan at the Department of Minority Languages and Literature in the Central College for Nationalities, I set foot in Tibet for the first time. The first place I saw was the Township Village of Gamdeling, where I went to work with the liberated serfs who were undergoing a democratic reform. I helped set up grass roots political power. Being together day and night, I studied Tibetan with them and taught singing to children in the primary school. There, I learned to recite Tsangyang Gyatso's poem, On the Peak of the Eastern Mountain, from which the well- known name "Makye-ame" comes. Since July 20, 1963, the day on which I departed, I have had no opportunity to return to Gamdeling. These years, by radio, newspaper and internet, I got to know that a famous vegetable and flower producers' cooperative was built in Gamdeling. I can collect hundreds of reports about Gamdeling on line. The news makes me excited, because I know Gamdeling is going forward with Tibet. How about my old Tibetan friends? How about their life now? Who are even still alive? On August 30, 2011, on the occasion of a short business trip to Lhasa while accompanied by a friend, I stepped on the land again. Tenzin Wodrup's Vegetable Greenhouse Across the bridge over Tohlung Chu of the Lhasa River, we entered the area of Gamdeling. For me, everything was so familiar but yet strange! We stopped our car in front of a building with the sign of "Vegetable and Flower Exhibition and Trade Center of the Gamdeling Farmers' Vegetable Cultivation Cooperative, the County of Doilungdeqen". By the gate there was a stall selling local watermelons. Having taken some pictures, we drove northwards into the district of the vegetable greenhouses, intending to find a local and ask the way. It took five or six minutes for our ear to circle around the area, from which, we can see how big the district was. In time, I saw a middle-aged farmer with a bright T-shirt standing on the road. I got out and asked him about Tsering Dondrup. To my surprise, he was from Gamdeling and lived in the same Village of Chabka as Tsering Dondrup, and they were relatives The man's name was Tenzin Wodrup. He promised to take us to call on Tsering Dondrup's. On both sides of the road that was straight, clean and paved with cement, there stood dozens of vegetable greenhouses in rows.  相似文献
