The author deals with various issues in the introduction (1-12), in particular with the function of Prima … Thalea (1-2) and the relation of cum canerem reges et proelia (3) to 1-2 and to 3b-5. The allusion to Callimachus’ Aetia frg. 21-24 is thoroughly analysed. Especially dealt with is the meaning of non iniussa cano and tamen haec quoque (9) within a more comprehensive reading of the introduction.

Überlegungen zur Verortung der Nanotechnologie in einem wissenschafts‐ und technikgeschichtlichen Kontinuum

Reflections about an embedding of nanotechnology in a continuum of the history of science and technology. Nanotechnology is not a completely new technology, we can rather understand it as a continuation and extension of chemical technology. Along this line, it is not only problematic to characterize nanotechnology as a new ‘key technology’ but also the definition of nanotechnology as looking at a particular causality between properties and dimensions of materials seems hardly new. For embedding nanotechnology in such a greater historical context, the development of colloid chemistry at the beginning of the 20^th century by Richard Zsigmondy and Wolfgang Ostwald is shown as an important reference point. Modern theories of supramolecular chemistry as those constituted by Jean‐Marie Lehn and others refer to this line of research in colloid chemistry and lead currently to scientific foundations of some nanotechnological fields. The historical embedding of nanotechnology can hence be used as a contribution for a more realistic evaluation of the technological possibilities as well as for a critical estimation of technological visions.     

Zur komposition des buches micha

Zusammenfassung

Die kompositionsentwiciclung des Buches Micha basiert auf einer vom Vf. als “Stufenschema” (StS) bezeichneten dreiphasig angelegten altorientalischen Denkstruktur. Die in Mi 3 und 2 enthaltene Überlieferung der Worte Michas wurde spätvorexilisch durch Fortschreibung aktualisiert. Michas Klage über die Eroberung der Schefela Mi 1,10–15 wurde ebenfalls spätvorexilisch durch die Ansage einer Epiphanie JHWHs und vier Zionsprüche gerahmt. Während der erste Zionspruch in Mi 1 verblieb, wurden die anderen Zionsprüche exilisch‐nachexilisch zum Kern einer in mehreren Schüben ausgebauten Ringkomposition (Mi 4–5). Mi 6–7 ist eine aus Mi 6,8 entwickelte thematische Komposition. Die Umorientierung der Epiphanie Mi 1 zu einer gegen Samaria gerichteten Weissagung und die entsprechende Umfunktionierung einer alten Edom‐KIage in Mi 7 gehören in die Endphase der Kompositionsentwicklung.     

Zum sogenannten Nominativus Absolutus im Lateinischen: Neue Auslegungen zu einem alten Problem

Der vorliegende Aufsatz ist dem Gebrauch des sog. Nominativus Absolutus im Latein gewidmet. Es handelt sich dabei um ein partizipiales Syntagma im Nominativ, dessen grammatikalisches Subjekt anders als das des übergeordneten Satzes ist (z.B. Fulg. myth. 3,8 quam arborem pater gladio percutiens, Adon exinde natus est). Obwohl diese Konstruktion in zahlreichen, v.a. das Substandard- und Spätlatein betreffenden Studien Erwähnung fand, ist sie seit fast hundert Jahren keiner analytischen Besprechung unterzogen worden. Unsere Untersuchung verfolgt zwei mit einander eng verknüpfte Ziele: (a) zum einen sollen die kennzeichnenden Merkmale des Syntagmas besprochen werden, unter besonderer Berücksichtigung von pragmatischen, semantischen und syntaktischen Aspekten; (b) zum anderen soll dessen Evolution in Diachronie dargelegt werden, wobei eine allmählich ausgeprägtere Unabhängigkeit gegenüber der übergeordneten Prädikation nachgewiesen werden soll.     

Blutspuren. Zur Bedeutung des Blutes in der Kriminalwissenschaft um 1900

Traces of Blood. The Significance of Blood in Criminology at the Turn of the 19th Century. In late 19th and early 20th century, criminology became institutionalized as an independent branch of science. Methodologically it focused on the ‘exact’ methods of the natural sciences, but also it tried to integrate the methods of the humanities. This mix of methods becomes visible in the treatment of blood, which on the one hand was an object of then brand new methods of scientific analysis (identification of human blood by the biological or precipitin method), and on the other hand was analyzed as a product of the magic and superstitious mentalities of criminals. The methodical tension resulting from this epistemological cross‐breeding did not disturb the criminologists, for whom the reconciliation of opposite ways of thinking and researching seemed to be possible. In this encyclopaedic analysis of blood early criminology tried to combine the anthropological exploration of vampirism with the chemical and microscopic detection of antibodies and haemoglobin, thus mirroring the positivistic optimism that was then prevalent.
