《近代史研究》三十年之路与未来走向

<近代史研究>杂志创刊于1979年10月,迄今已整整30年.它是中国社会科学院近代史研究所主办的专业学术刊物,国内外学者发表中国近代史研究成果的共同园地.30年来,它以发表坚持唯物主义、尊重辩证法、充分体现实事求是精神研究历史实例的成果为根本任务,不邀宠,不媚俗,努力走实践时代使命、坚持学术本位、维护良好学风、奖掖学术新秀的办刊之路.希望它未来一如既往,办成一个更加理性的学术刊物,团聚众多冷静研究和思考历史问题的学者为一个理性学派,为国家学术事业的健康、长远发展做出贡献.     

从《近代史研究》看近十年来的中国近代史研究——基于CSSCI(1998-2007)数据的分析

本文根据南京大学社会科学评价研究中心提供的"中文社会科学引文索引数据库(CSSSCI)"中1998-2007年的有关数据,对<近代史研究>的发文概况、主要作者、高被引文章和作者、研究主题的变化等方面进行统计分析,并进一步剖析<近代史研究>的学术影响力及其发展变化,可为读者了解<近代史研究>的办刊特色和中国近代史研究的状况提供一定的参考.从相关统计数据分析看,<近代史研究>在史学界享有较高的学术声望,其在发表近代史研究的优秀学术成果、推动史学理论和方法的创新、拓展和深化研究领域、培养学术新人等方面作出了较大的贡献.     

关于近代史研究“新范式”的若干思考

中共十一届三中全会以来,随着思想理论战线“拨乱反正”的进行和我国现代化建设新阶段的展开,有的近代史研究开始对所谓传统观点,即“革”前17年间力图运用马克思主义基本理论指导中国近代史研究所得出的基本认识进行重新审视,初步提出关于中国近代历史发展基本线索的新思路。此后,赞同和运用这种新思路的研究日渐增多,至90年代,研究成果续有发表,这种新思路也发展成为一种新“范式”,以这种新“范式”构架中国近代史的学术作也有多种出版,其中由冯林先生主编,改革出版社     

英文版《中国近代史》即将创刊

在国际上现有的以中国近现代史研究为内容的英刊物中,中国学所发表的研究成果极为有限,中国学对本国历史的研究成果往往不能及时为国际学术界所知晓、所分享。为了将中国学的优秀成果更快捷地推向世界,为了加强中外学之间的对话和交流,[第一段]

2005年中国近代史研究综述

2005年,中国近代史研究继续稳步发展,并显示出两大热点,一是随着2004年中央《关于进一步繁荣发展哲学社会科学的意见》的贯彻,马克思主义理论研究和建设工程的正式启动,史学理论研究出现良好势头;二是因纪念中国抗日战争暨世界反法西斯战争胜利60周年,抗战史成为突出的研究课题     

精神与延续--关于《文史杂志》六卷的思考

曾在《历史知识》1981年第六期拜读过方诗铭先生的一篇文章,名为《顾颉刚先生与（文史杂志）》。文章陈述了《文史杂志》办刊的艰辛,并且不无遗憾地告知《文史杂志》六卷由于“十年浩劫,保存下来仅是第六卷第三期一册了。这一册可能是海内孤本”,可见《文史杂志》六卷之稀有珍贵。

《国语集解》订补

徐元诰的《国语集解》最初由中华书局在1930年出版。2002年经王树民、沈长云两位先生校点由中华书局出修订本。徐书全刊国语本文以及韦昭注,并将相关的对韦昭注的驳正熔合自己的意见列于韦昭注的下面,为读者提供了很多有价值的材料。不过部分注解或校订现在看来存在可商榷之处,特别是出土文献以及考古发现的研究的进展都可以和国语互证,显然这是徐元诰无法看到的,本文旨在根据古文字材料和考古发现的进展,对《国语集解》作一个初步的订补。     

The Factory Chimney: Some Technical Aspects

Abstract

Outworking was widespread across England, its mundane buildings and landscapes often very functional in nature, yet they represent an important inheritance. Their recentness and familiarity may however militate against them, resulting in patchy and inconsistent protection and curation. Appreciating the nature of outworking is dependant upon the quality of such extant buildings and landscapes, but this poses problems for formal protection, especially where research has been modest. Our understanding and conservation of these assets is investigated by considering outworking in the East Midlands as a case study. Framework-knitting, lace and the boot and shoe industries were important economic staples in this region during the 19th-century, resulting in the expansion of many cities, towns and villages where outworking housing, workshops and masters' houses were essential elements of production.

建设“凉州文化”的一点思考

武威是历史文化名城,有丰厚的文化积绽。在进行文化建设中有多方面多层次的工作要做,我以为有一点是应当认真做的,这就是学术研究。也就是说,要用科学的态度和方法,对武威的历史文化进行认真的探索,挖掘真实的内涵,还历史以真实的面目。那么,研究什么呢?研究对象就是“凉州文化”。我在这里提出“凉州文化”这个概念,我想可以用这个概念代替过去有关武威历史文化的“五凉文化”、“西夏文化”、“天马文化”等,因为这些概念只能概括武威历史文化的一部分或者一个时期,而且还和别的地方文化有交叉,比如“五凉文化”就不仅是武威,武威充其量只是四凉,“西夏文化”更不以武威为中心。它们都只是某一个特定历史阶段的产物。我们说的凉州文化,大致指从汉武帝设置河西郡或者从“张蹇凿空”、开拓丝绸之路以后,直到清代中叶“凉州复兴”这一长达近两千年的时间里,产生在武威地区光辉灿烂的古代文明。这其中有几个突出的要点应当着力把握和研究:第一,西汉后期至东汉时期,我们称之为“天马”时期,这一时期武威的繁荣,由于文献的不足,研究得还不够。第二,四凉(前、后、南、北)时期,武威是西北地区政治文化中心,著名历史学家赵俪生先生说凉州是中古时期(公元二世纪到公元七世纪)具有...     

Some Thoughts about Standardized Teaching Evaluations

Abstract

Mark Blitz begins his book Plato’s Political Philosophy by making a strong case for Plato’s continuing relevance to us. The book’s three parts are centered on three dialogues of special importance to Blitz’s topic: the Laws, the Republic, and the Statesman. Blitz also pulls into his discussion other dialogues that illuminate the teachings of these three central ones. Blitz’s analyses of the dialogues are illuminating. He lays out the dialogues’ intellectual pathways and gives us an important sense of their meaning. In addition to his examination of particular dialogues, Blitz also gives us rich discussions of four key concepts that underlie and are found throughout Plato’s works: nature, wonder, perplexity, and laughter. The book lacks a deeper discussion of the view that we should be guided by nature in determining our ends. Also missing is a better appreciation of both the challenge posed to philosophy by piety, and the attraction of institutions of modern republics. And we could have a better understanding of the limits of a rational politics in the Statesman. Plato has difficulty finding a place for the philosopher in the city, and this could come through more clearly in Blitz’s account. But these shortcomings are minor when set against the book’s strengths. Its synoptic analyses can help guide those new to Plato. But there is also much here for mature scholars in Blitz’s detailed and careful exploration of Plato’s more important concepts and arguments.     

Some remarks about a ball lightning model

Two criticisms of a model for explaining the nature of ball lightning are discussed. It is shown why these criticisms are groundless. Furthermore, by considering the topics in question in a wider context, the reliability of the model is further substantiated. Comparisons between model expectations and ball lightning reports, including laboratory ball lightning, are considered and again the model turns out to be in agreement with observations.
