傅云龙《游历日本图经余记》所见汉籍考

傅云龙是近代海外访书的先行者之一,他在奉旨游历海外时,曾在日本见到过诸多珍贵汉籍,并对其中的部分古籍进行了考证,甚至还有过刊刻海外汉籍的活动。本文主要从文献学的角度对傅云龙所著《游历日本图经余记》中涉及的日藏汉籍予以考察,在考订这些海外汉籍的版本、流传等问题的同时,并对傅氏的某些考证中存在的问题予以订正。     

续志必须重视"补遗"

续志应设“补遗”门类或专项,把首轮新编志书漏记的内容补记完整。前提是指导思想要正确,明确“古…‘近”“现”和“详略…‘粗细”的概念,对诸如民国时期、抗日时期及解放后的一些重大运动的历史资料要认真记实记清。认真总结前志编纂的经验教训,科学分析其成败得失是“补遗”必不可少的工作。     

加拉帕戈斯 从火山到深海的世界尽头之旅

<正>锤头鲨,顾名思义,这种鲨鱼有着像锤子一样的脑袋,准确地说来,它们的脑袋长得如同一把榔头,而眼睛就长在头的左右两侧,距离非常远,看上去颇有几分怪异,不过也正是因为这样,锤头鲨才有了更为广阔的视野。锤头鲨的寿命通常有30～40岁。一般来说,锤头鲨的体长在4米左右,体重230公斤上下,生活在热带及温带海域。在今天,锤头鲨已经成为濒危动物,在加拉帕戈斯,你能够见到这些"水中巨头"的身影,其实还有赖于当地政府的保护,厄瓜多尔政府已经在加拉帕戈斯群岛的海洋保护区内为濒临灭绝的锤头鲨设立了禁猎区,让这些"水中巨头"可以有一片生存的净土。     

The James Ramsay Hunt Case Books

James Ramsay Hunt (1874–1937) was one of the pioneers of early-twentieth-century American neurology. The James Ramsay Hunt Case Books, Columbia University, were created by Hunt and chronicle his experience with private patients from 1903 until 1937. This resource is not widely known to scholars and the content of these 30 volumes has not been described in detail. The purpose of this report is to describe this resource in terms of its organization, general contents and special features. The books contain the clinical records of 5,019 consecutive patients. The largest proportion had neurasthenia or psychiatric diagnoses, followed by those with neuropathies, manifestations of neurosyphilis, migraine and epilepsy. The books, through the enclosed correspondence, photographs, and poetry sent by patients, reveal a close relationship between the patients and their physician. Hunt's drawings are a special feature of the early volumes, including his original unpublished drawing of the lesions associated with his herpetic geniculate ganglion syndrome. The Case Books, by providing an indexed and permanent record of cases, would have made it easier for Hunt to cross-reference patients with similar clinical characteristics when he was in the process of describing a new syndrome. These Case Books provide a valuable perspective of the practice of neurology in early-twentieth-century America.

制定出台《辽宁省散居少数民族权益保障条例》势在必行,在新旧体制转换过程中,民族工作出现了新的矛盾和问题,应用法律手段规范和处理,是依法行政的重要内容和要求,目前制定条例的时机已经成熟,以往辽宁省政府颁布的《辽宁省散居少数民族权益保障规定》等件基本上得到贯彻落实,奠定了制定条例的基础。本条例的制定,应在立法原则、立法技术、立法内容等方面充分反映和照顾辽宁散居少数民族 特点和利益。

President Versus Congress: The Struggle for Public Attention

Power relationships between the executive and legislative branches in the United States are affected by the nature and shape of public opinion. Both branches actively seek the stamp of popular approval but the President has advantages in the struggle for public attention that are vital in the exercise of his powers. Television, in the coverage it gives to presidential activities and pseudo-activities, provides the President with an opportunity to move and lead the nation. Although we are a nation of shared powers, television projects the message that we are a presidential nation and that message is affecting both popular perceptions and power relationships on the national level.

刘向校书动机发微

先秦时期文献的丰厚积累,秦始皇焚书和秦末动乱对典籍流传的破坏,西汉初中期图书文献的增加,以及汉朝的求书、藏书和校书传统,构成了刘向校书的学术背景.然而元、成二朝郊庙礼制改革的论争,以及成帝胡灾异屡降,迫使成帝急需理论的依据和历史的借鉴,加之成帝个人对典籍经书的喜爱,便效法前朝以求书、校书来寻求解决现实政治问题的传统,这才是成帝下诏校书的真正的动机.刘向适逢其时,以其特殊的身份承担了历史交托给他的重大使命.因此,唯有全面理解刘向校书在学术文化与现实政治上的功能,才能更充分地掌握成帝下诏校书的实质目的和整体意义.     

北京市的连环画业改造

连环画作为贴近人民群众生活的通俗读物,既能满足民众的文化需要又能很好地配合政府进行政策宣传,因而受到了新政权的高度重视。新中国成立初期,北京市坚持"艺术为人民群众服务"的方针,坚决取缔了反动、荒谬、淫秽的旧连环画,推广和普及了新连环画,使其沿着符合新社会的价值标准、合乎人民群众利益的方向发展,对于建构国家形象、传播科学文化知识、塑造健康人格起到了积极的作用。     

The Importance of Attention Diversity and How to Measure It

Studies of political attention often focus on attention to a single issue, such as front‐page coverage of the economy. However, examining attention to a single issue without accounting for the agenda as a whole can lead to faulty assumptions. One solution is to consider the diversity of attention; that is, how narrowly or widely attention is distributed across items (e.g., issues on an agenda or, at a lower level, frames in an issue debate). Attention diversity is an important variable in its own right, offering insight into how agendas vary in their accessibility to policy problems and perspectives. Yet despite the importance of attention diversity, we lack a standard for how best to measure it. This paper focuses on the four most commonly used measures: the inverse Herfindahl Index, Shannon's H, and their normalized versions. We discuss the purposes of these measures and compare them through simulations and using three real‐world datasets. We conclude that both Shannon's H and its normalized form are better measures, minimizing the danger of spurious findings that could result from the less sensitive Herfindahl measures. The choice between the Shannon's H measures should be made based on whether variance in the total number of possible items (e.g., issues) is meaningful.
