The feasibility of using output-only model-free wavelet-based techniques for damage detection in reinforced concrete structures subjected to seismic loads is explored through the analysis of the results of a full scale shake table test of a reinforced concrete bridge column recently performed at the NEES Large High Performance Outdoor Shake Table. The evaluated approaches are based solely in the analysis of the acceleration time histories recorded in the structure. The viability of using numerical models to validate this type of damage detection methodologies is also evaluated. Wavelet analyses were capable of identifying the rebar fracture episodes and partially identified the frequency shifts in the structure as the inelastic demand increased. It was also found that, depending on the methodology employed, the use of numerical models to validate damage detection techniques can oversimplify the actual problem and/or induce spurious irregularities.  相似文献

An analytical solution is presented for the response of a bilinear inelastic simple oscillator to a symmetric triangular ground acceleration pulse. This type of motion is typical of near-fault recordings generated by source-directivity effects that may generate severe damage. Explicit closed-form expressions are derived for: (i) the inelastic response of the oscillator during the rising and decaying phases of the excitation as well as the ensuing free oscillations; (ii) the time of structural yielding; (iii) the time of peak response; (iv) the associated ductility demand. It is shown that when the duration of the pulse is long relative to the elastic period of the structure and its amplitude is of the same order as the yielding seismic coefficient, serious damage may occur if significant ductility cannot be supplied. The effect of post-yielding structural stiffness on ductility demand is also examined. Contrary to presently-used numerical algorithms, the proposed analytical solution allows many key response parameters to be evaluated in closed-form expressions and insight to be gained on the'response of inelastic structures to such motions. The model is evaluated against numerical results from actual near-field recorded motions. Illustrative examples are also presented.  相似文献

照片建模技术是指利用数码照片重建物体的三维模型的技术。和其他建模方法相比,Agisoft Photoscan照片建模技术的最大特点就是成本低,操作简单,整个建模过程由软件自动完成。在考古发掘过程中对遗迹现象、地层等拍摄数码照片,利用照片它能够快速、准确的完成三维数据模型的重建,真实的记录、保存大量发掘过程中的原始信息,便于再现不同阶段的发掘现场,也有助于遗存数字化信息的永久保存,为后续全方位的研究和虚拟化展示提供了充分保障。本研究将以洛阳定鼎门遗址博物馆前的小型建筑和一座墓葬为例,介绍Agisoft Photoscan重建遗物及遗迹3D数字模型的方法和流程以及在考古方面的应用。鉴于其对数据采集的高效性、简便的操作性以及快速建立遗迹三维数据模型的能力,在考古工作中将有着巨大的应用前景。  相似文献

A micromechanical damage model for the Snite element modelling of historical masonry structures is presented in this article. Masonry is considered as a composite medium made up of a periodic assembly of blocks connected by orthogonal bed and head mortar joints. The constitutive equations, in plane stress, are based on the homogenisation theory and they consider the non linear stress-strain relationship in terms of mean stress and mean strain. Different in-plane damage mechanisms, involving both mortar and blocks, are considered and the damage process is governed by evolution laws based on an energetic approach derived from Fracture Mechanics and on a non-associated Coulomb friction law. The failure domain of the model is analysed both in the equivalent stress and in the principal stress space considering different orientations of the bed joints relative to the loading direction. A comparison with experimental results is provided. A numerical simulation of masonry walls subjected to horizontal forces proportional to their own weight is shown in order to discuss the model's capability of describing the influence of the masonry microstructure on its mechanical behaviour.  相似文献

文物保护中的安全监测是一项复杂而重要的工作,为了确保具有千年历史的独木舟从出土到馆藏过程中的结构安全,提出了采用分布式光纤传感的全过程应变监测方法。首先结合工程实际情况,确定整体分布式光纤监测方案,优化了光纤的布设方法。通过分布式应变监测数据评估了加固保护和翻转过程对舟体的影响。监测结果表明,分布式光纤传感能有效地捕捉各过程的结构应变变化,分析表明该文物保护过程中舟体处于安全状态。实际工程应用也验证了分布式光纤传感技术在文物结构安全保护过程中的有效性,该方法具有极大的推广价值,能有效提高现有文物挖掘保护水平。  相似文献

The Basilica of San Francesco in Assisi endured stronger earthquakes for centuries before 1997 earthquake, which generated the collapse of the two vaults. Experts blame as possible reasons of collapse the damage cumulated from previous earthquakes and/or the retrofitting made to the structure over its lifetime. This article presents the history of the retrofit interventions of the Basilica through the centuries, focusing mainly on the roof, which has been subjected to three major restorations through its life. It is shown using simple analytical models that the cumulative effects of the changes made to the roof of the Basilica affected the structure’s dynamic behavior in a negative manner, increasing the seismic loads on the existing structural members. In particular, the numerical results show that the 1958 roof intervention has stiffened the structure, redistributing the seismic loads on the façade and the transept. This overload might explain the collapse of the two Gothic vaults during 1997 earthquake.  相似文献

The strain-based prediction model combining the Miner's rule and Manson-Coffin's relationship provides a local parameter for evaluating the ductile crack initiation of steel structures, and some modified models based on it were proposed to evaluate extremely low-cycle fatigue (ELCF) behaviors of steel structures. Previous research has confirmed these local models to be an accurate index for ductile crack initiation in steel bridge piers, however it is found to quite depend on the mesh size of the numerical model used. In this study, a non local damage parameter is presented and successfully applied to ductile crack initiation life assessment of steel bridge piers subjected to earthquake-type cyclic loading. The non local damage parameter is based on averaging the strains over the effective plane using a weight function in the exponential form, and introduces the non local damage parameter to replace the local state variable. Finite element analysis with three different mesh sizes is employed. Comparisons of the local and non local solutions with those of experiments indicate that the non local prediction model can predict the ductile crack initiation of steel bridge piers with good accuracy regardless of the specimen geometries and loading histories, meanwhile the mesh independent nature of the non local model is also demonstrated.  相似文献

Many facility location decision models ignore the fact that for a facility to survive it needs a minimum demand level to cover costs. In this paper we present a decision model for a firm that wishes to enter a spatial market where there are several competitors already located. This market is such that for each outlet there is a demand threshold level that has to be achieved in order to survive. The firm wishes to know where to locate its outlets so as to maximize its market share taking into account the threshold level. It may happen that due to this new entrance, some competitors will not be able to meet the threshold and therefore will disappear. A formulation is presented together with a heuristic solution method and computational experience.  相似文献

鸽子和蝙蝠的活动与排泄物污染是威胁北岳庙德宁之殿古建筑与古壁画安全的关键因素。本研究首先开展了德宁之殿动物病害现状调查,利用安防监控系统监测了大殿内蝙蝠的夜间活动特点,使用观鸟望远镜观测了鸽子的白天活动规律,并测定了病害动物排泄物的酸碱度和易溶盐含量。针对德宁之殿当前的动物病害问题,引入超声波驱赶法对大殿内病害动物进行驱逐,结合数字式声级计和单位面积蝙蝠排泄物重量变化对驱赶效果做出判定。结果表明:有近千只蝙蝠和数百只鸽子在德宁之殿内、外频繁活动;蝙蝠尿液呈酸性,富含硝酸盐和硫酸盐,其粪便为碱性,硝酸盐含量较高;鸽子粪便内含有较高的硝酸盐;病害动物排泄物易造成古壁画原有保存微环境改变,产生病害。安装超声波动物驱赶器后,大殿内蝙蝠平均活动时间缩短,活动强度受到了明显抑制,活动区单位面积内排泄物重量降低;大殿外鸽子也受到了驱赶器的影响,延迟返巢。超声波驱赶法在古建筑蝙蝠与鸽子病害防治过程中具有一定优势,同时有必要实施其它物理防治和机械防治等主动干预措施,以进一步提高综合防治效率。  相似文献

This article explores how Micheál MacLiammóir and Denis Johnston attempted to perform cultural memories of the Easter Rising at the Dublin Gate Theatre and thereby articulated their respective views on a colonial past that had to be reassessed anew, on the one hand, and a postcolonial future that still had to be made possible, on the other. By analysing how these two prominent Gate Theatre playwrights sought to commemorate the Rising through mediated performances, this article argues that the Gate Theatre did not simply serve as a playground for disinterested aestheticists but also created a stylised forum where the perceived strain between Ireland's traumatic history and its uncertain future could be addressed and reconfigured into a meaningful teleology. In doing so, this article attempts to demonstrate that the Gate Theatre served as a cultural counterweight to the Abbey's ostensible hegemony as a theatrical force in Irish identity formation.  相似文献

In the divided Walled City of Nicosia, there are two separate markets: one in the Greek Cypriot South and one in the Turkish Cypriot North. The division is the result of the unresolved Cyprus Problem. However, UN-sponsored negotiations are gradually liberalizing trade as well as movement of people across the border. On 3 April 2008, the Ledra Street/Lokmaci Gate was opened, allowing people, tourists and shoppers to cross to the other side. This event was further stimulated by action on the part of various aid agencies, principally the European Union, United States Agency for International Development and United Nations Development Program, who had invested heavily in revitalization projects to restore historic and heritage sites in the area. These two complementary effects (i.e. revitalization projects and opening the Gate) have generated significant trade creation in the business district near the Gate. It is the overall aim of this paper to quantify the “trade creation effect”. The paper reports the results of a special survey of primary shop owners in the neighbourhood of the Gate in the northern part of the capital. The study finds empirical evidence of substantial trade creation, especially for Turkish Cypriots. However, this optimistic finding is clouded by the on-going bitterness of the last divided European capital surrounded by barbwires and minefields of the UN buffer zone that prevent maximum economic prosperity of a potential political settlement.  相似文献

Hybrid simulation can provide significant advantages for large-scale experimental investigations of the seismic response of structures through collapse, particularly when considering cost and safety of conventional shake table tests. Hybrid simulation, however, has its own challenges and special attention must be paid to mitigate potential numerical and experimental errors that can propagate throughout the simulation. Several case studies are presented here to gain insight into the factors influencing the accuracy and stability of hybrid simulation from the linear-elastic response range through collapse. The hybrid simulations were conducted on a four-story two-bay moment frame with various substructuring configurations. Importantly, the structural system examined here was previously tested on a shake table with the same loading sequence, allowing for direct evaluation of the hybrid simulation results. The sources of error examined include: (1) computational stability in numerical substructure; (2) setup and installation of the physical specimen representing the experimental substructure; and (3) the accuracy of the selected substructuring technique that handles the boundary conditions and continuous exchange of data between the subassemblies. Recommendations are made regarding the effective mitigation of the various sources of errors. It is shown that by controlling errors, hybrid simulation can provide reliable results for collapse simulation by comparison to shake table testing.  相似文献

This study presents some numerical results related to the analysis of the structural damage of a historic masonry building, Palazzo Gulinelli, in Ferrara, Italy. A detailed analysis of the inhomogeneities of the facade, historic documentation, and recent restoration interventions carried out in an adjacent building, suggest that the Palace underwent various modifications both on the structural configuration and on the borne loads. Such modifications might be the main cause of some differential settlements and of the consequent significant crack pattern on the load-bearing walls. Therefore, in the present paper the occurrence of a crack pattern on the facade is simulated by carrying out standard linear and non-linear finite element (FE) homogenized models; differential settlements are applied in order to reproduce the structural changes occurred over time. Previous experiences of the authors (for example, Acito and Milani in 2012 and Mallardo et al. in 2008), the current crack pattern of the building (of its facade in particular) and the monitoring data referring to some of them are the main references for the analysis carried out. The structural survey, the numerical results, and the data monitoring suggest two main conclusions: 1) a good correlation between numerical results and monitoring data is assessed, therefore the cracks can be reasonably related to past differential settlements; and 2) the cracks/damage that occurred as a consequence of differential foundation settlements reduce the ability of the facade to resist seismic actions.  相似文献

Fragility functions that estimate the probability of exceeding different levels of damage in slab-column connections of existing non-ductile reinforced concrete buildings subjected to earthquakes are presented. The proposed fragility functions are based on experimental data from 16 investigations conducted in the last 36 years that include a total of 82 specimens. Fragility functions corresponding to four damage states are presented as functions of the level of peak interstory drift imposed on the connection. For damage states involving punching shear failure and loss of vertical carrying capacity, the fragility functions are also a function of the vertical shear in the connection produced by gravity loads normalised by the nominal vertical shear strength in the absence of unbalanced moments. Two sources of uncertainty in the estimation of damage as a function of lateral deformation are studied and discussed. The first is the specimen-to-specimen variability of the drifts associated with a damage state, and the second the epistemic uncertainty arising from using small samples of experimental data and from interpreting the experimental results. For a given peak interstorey drift ratio, the proposed fragility curves permit the estimation of the probability of experiencing different levels of damage in slab-column connections.  相似文献

Field investigations after the recent Tohoku and Christchurch earthquakes reported failure of structural systems due to multiple earthquakes. In most failure cases the reported damage was mainly due to dramatic loss of stiffness and strength of structural elements as a result of material deterioration due to repeated earthquake loading. This study aims to investigate the degrading behavior of reinforced concrete frame systems subjected to Tohoku and Christchurch earthquake sequences. Numerical models of RC frames that incorporate damage features are established and inelastic response history analyses are conducted. The results presented in this study indicate that multiple earthquake effects are significant.  相似文献

Natural processes are known to cause significant damage to archaeological monuments. In fact, the key to understanding the decay of building materials is the internal movement of water through the mineral matrix, which influences the distribution of chemical, physical and biological deterioration processes. Electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) was traditionally used as a surveying tool within archaeology, but a new high‐resolution technique that accurately traces the movement of moisture in building materials could provide a vital tool for understanding the decay of many archaeological monuments. This paper considers current progress, the shift of ERT from soil to rock research and the impact that this development could have on future conservation, using Hertford College (Oxford) and Neolithic rock art (Golden Gate Reserve, South Africa) as case studies.  相似文献

It is important to predict the behaviour of an aged concrete gravity dam during an earthquake and to assess its degraded capacity to withstand future earthquakes, so that remedial measures can be taken at the right time. The assessment of operating and ageing dams is more important, since the analyses procedures may become obsolete and state of the art may change since the time of construction. In this paper, an approach to include the time dependent degradation of concrete owing to environmental factors and mechanical loading in terms of isotropic damage index is presented. An effective numerical algorithm for seismic analysis of a concrete dam in the vicinity of an infinite reservoir with the application of damage mechanics considering fluid-structure interaction is presented. The performance of an aged dam with a known percentage of isotropic or orthotropic damage due to seismic excitation is studied.  相似文献

Salt crystallization in porous materials constitutes one of the major causes of decay of buildings/archaeological sites in a wide range of environments. Desalination is among the most common methodologies of conservative treatment for salt decay. However, classic desalination techniques might be not suitable for long-term conservation. During the past decade interest has been an increasing towards crystallization inhibitors as a new means of controlling crystallization damage. This study deals with the first in-field application of an environment-friendly inhibitor system— phosphocitrate (PC). In particular, the case study of the Roman mosaic of Orpheus and the Beasts in Perugia (Italy) is presented. The inhibitor is completely soluble in water or alcohol, non-toxic, and easy to apply, thus enabling its use in accordance with the volatile organic compounds emission control and safety during the conservation works. Relevant samples from control and treated mosaic areas were collected and analyzed comparatively by means of Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive spectrometry to study the potential of the inhibitor system in preventing/controlling salt damage in such archaeological site.  相似文献

Recently, the importance of considering residual (permanent) deformations in the performance assessment of structures has been recognized. Advanced structural systems with re-centering properties as those based on unbonded post-tensioning tendons are capable of controlling or completely eliminating residual deformations. However, for more traditional systems, which count for the vast majority of buildings, residual deformations are currently considered an unavoidable result of structural inelastic response under severe seismic shaking.

In this article, a probabilistic framework for a performance-based seismic assessment of structures considering residual deformations is proposed. The development of a probabilistic formulation of a combined three-dimensional performance matrix, where maximum and residual deformations are combined to define the performance level corresponding to various damage states for a given seismic intensity levels, is first presented. Combined fragility curves expressing the probability of exceedence of performance levels defined by pairs of maximum-residual deformations are then derived using bivariate probability distributions. The significance of evaluating and accounting for residual deformations within a Performance-based Earthquake Engineering (PBEE) approach is further confirmed via numerical examples on the response of Single Degree of Freedom (SDOF) systems, with different hysteretic behavior, under a selected suite of earthquake records. Joined fragility curves corresponding to various performance levels, defined as a combination of maximum and residual response parameters, are derived while investigating the effects of hysteretic systems and strength ratios. It is observed that stiffness degrading Takeda systems result in lower residual deformations than elasto-plastic systems and show lower probability of exceeding a jointed maximum-residual performance level. For a chosen performance level, Takeda systems with higher strength ratios show better performance, particularly with lower intensity of excitations.  相似文献
