从二十四顷地教案日期的分歧看教会史料的局限

在内蒙古二十四顷地教案中比利时圣母圣心会韩默理主教被杀,这是长城以北义和团运动中震惊中外的大案。由于西方史家尚未充分利用中文档案,致使西文著作的许多事实与中文史料不符。本文考辨案发日期,认为在是１９００年７月１９日,而非教会传统的说法７月２０日,并进一步认为双方若能跳出各自民族、宗教和政党的狭隘圈子,不仅有助于澄清一些历史悬案和争端,也能更好地在历史研究领域等各个方面进行交流合作。     

The R.C.H.M.E./G.M.A.U. Joint Survey of Textile Mills in Greater Manchester

Abstract

This paper outlines progress during the first two years of the Greater Manchester Textile Mill Survey, which started in May 1985. A county-wide index to mill sites has been created, based on cartographic information, which aims to assist the assessment and comparison of large numbers of mills. A range of documentary research was undertaken and a representative sample of sites selected for individual study. The paper concludes with summaries of two selected sites in Ancoats, Manchester.
