190 0年夏天 ,华北某些地区的基督教社群组织了教会武装 ,与义和团发生了多次武装冲突。从某种意义上看 ,他们的武装活动是这一地区历史悠久的集体性暴力活动的组成部分。外国传教士利用不平等条约赋予的特权地位 ,领导基督教社群最大化地获取并控制各种资源。作为乡村精英的传教士 ,在天主教社群面临危难的时刻 ,组织教徒武装 ,度过了义和团的风暴。义和团高潮时期天主教社群的武装防御活动 ,是内部环境和外部因素相结合的产物     

义和团起源研究的回顾与随想

在中国近代史上,很少有什么历史事件,像义和团这样引起过如此长期的众说纷坛的讨论──特别是义和团起源问题。一百年来几代的历史学者、政治人、传教士和记者为阐释这个问题留下了大量的文字。究其原因,这不仅是由于义和团的起源复杂、组织奇特、可供解释的文字史料和其他的人文传承物又过于零散,因而使这一历史现象本身就带有许多模糊不清、彼此矛盾的因素;而且也因为这是一个人们在考察晚清政局乃至考察中国的历史脉络时都容易发生联想的问题。长期以来,人们出于不同的立足点和方法论,勾廓出了许多不同的乃至于是对立的义和团“起…     

道德话语:1900—1901年对北京的劫掠

在 1 90 0年义和团事件过程中 ,八国联军、西方传教士和外交团成员在北京和直隶地区进行了各种形式的劫掠活动。这些劫掠活动以及对劫掠物品的处理方式 ,引起了欧美媒体的关注。一些作者在谴责列强劫掠行为的同时 ,对西方文明内部的野蛮行为进行了道德批评和反省 ,提出了当时有关种族差别和文明进程之间关系的重要问题

20 0 0年 10月 9日到 13日 ,中国史学会、中国义和团研究会、山东大学、山东师范大学、山东省社会科学联合会、山东省社会科学院、山东省历史学会、《近代史研究》编辑部和河北省威县人民政府联合举办的“义和团运动 10 0周年国际学术讨论会”在山东大学举行。参加会议的有内地 2 1个省、市、自治区的学者 12 0余人和港、台学者 6人 ,日本、美国、德国、韩国、法国、英国、澳大利亚、以色列等国家的学者 2 2人。会议收到论文 10 0篇 ,与会学者围绕“义和团运动与近代中国与世界”的主题展开了热烈的讨论。讨论结束后 ,与会学者到义和团发源…

义和团运动是我国近代史上一次震撼世界的反帝爱国斗争。当时,在沙俄等八个帝国主义武装侵略中国,民族危机空前严重的情况下,河南清丰的义和团的勇士们和我国北方其他地区的义和团勇士们一样,揭竿而起,同帝国主义强盗及其走狗清朝政府展开了殊死的斗争。"清邑义和团"团旗是河南省清丰县前游子庄的革命群众代代相传、精心保存下来的一件珍贵的革命历史文物,现藏在河南省博物馆。这面光辉的战旗用两幅白色平纹土布缝合而成,旗高150、宽180厘米,中间墨色楷书"清邑义和团"五个大字,严肃大方
