THE SECOND HAN-TIBETAN BUDDHISM SYMPOSIUM HELD IN BEIJING

<正>The Second Han-Tibetan Buddhism Symposium was held at Renmin University of China on September 21st,2012.Scholars in the Han-Tibetan Buddhism field from home and abroad gathered together and made academic exchange with Master Xue Cheng and Jamyang Lodro Rinpoche.The symposium released scholars' researches on the murals and Thangkas of Jonang Sect,opened a special Jonang Buddhist Cultural Forum.Master Xue Cheng and Jamyang Lodro Rinpoche were engaged as academic advisers of the Han-Tibetan Buddhism Research Center of Renmin University.Dzamtang Tsangpa Monastery of Jonang Sect in Aba Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province was appointed as the teaching practice base of the National Culture Institute of Renmin University.The famous scholars Chen Qingying,Banban Dorje,Shen Weirong,Xie Haoyue and Yuan Jingfang have made keynote speeches.     

The BUTTER LANTERN FESTIVAL HELD IN THE LABRANG MONASTERY

On Feb.24,2013,an annual Butter Lantern Festival was held in the Labrang Monastery in Xiahe County of Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture,Gansu Province on the Chinese Lantern Festival.Each Chinese Lantern Festival,the monks would place the butter lanterns made of the Tibetan specialty of yak butter in the square before the sutra hall of the Labrang Monastery as a means to pray for good fortune and harvest.

Qomolongma Festival HELD IN XIGAZE

The Qomolongma Cultural Festival, held from August 26 to September 1,2001 in Xigaze, was a grand gathering. Complete with a theatrical performance, tour, commodities fair and trade talks, it displayed the progress Xigaze Prefecture has had made in the past 50 years, especially during the ongoing reform and opening program.     

THE LAUNCHING CEREMONY OF CHINA TIBETAN ACADEMIC JOURNAL NET HELD IN BEIJING

WITH SPLINTERS (OR STARS) IN OUR EYES: ON READING THE FRANKFURT SCHOOL WITH MARTIN JAY

This mostly admiring review article focuses on Martin Jay's 2020 essay collection entitled Splinters in Your Eye: Frankfurt School Provocations. Though it highlights details and insights from nearly every essay in the collection, the review devotes significant attention to chapter 4, which focuses on the relationship of the Frankfurt School's first-generation scholars with Sigmund Freud. The departure point for my engagement with Jay's fourth chapter is the translation of the German word Trieb (drive) as “instinct” throughout The Standard Edition of the Complete Psychological Works of Sigmund Freud. Although Jay's treatment of Max Horkheimer's, Theodor W. Adorno's, and Herbert Marcuse's recourses to Freudian psychoanalysis emphasizes their abiding commitment to Freud's theory of instinctual forces (over and against objections to his biologism), the question of whether a drive differs from an instinct does not arise. This question therefore offers an occasion to speculate on how distinguishing more firmly between instinct and drive might matter for the Frankfurt School's opposition between first and second nature. Though I praise Jay's decision to include a chapter on Miriam Hansen's Benjaminian revision of the public sphere, I also criticize his practice, in this volume at least, of consigning most scholarship authored by women to the endnotes rather than engaging with it in the main text.     

-CHINA GUANGCAI PROGRAM IN TIBET HELD IN LHASA

The activity of China Guangcai Program in Tibet, jointly organized by China Guangcai Society and the government of Tibet Autonomous Region, was held in Lhasa from August 4 to 5, 2013. More than 600 enterprises from 30 provinces all over the country took part in the activity. o During the activity, 229 contracts were signed with a total investment of 361.31 billion Yuan. China Guangcai Founda tion donated 18 million Yuan for the construction of Senior＇s House in Chushur County. China Minsheng Bank donated 40 million Yuan in the next four years for the treatment of children with congenital heart disease in Tibet. Qizheng Tibetan Medicine Co., Ltd donated 11 million Yuan to build a cultural institute in Lhundrup County and two Tibetan clinics respectively in Nagqu and Nyingchi.     

PRESS CONFERENCE OF THE FILM "NEVER GIVE UP" HELD IN BEIJING

<正>The press conference of the Tibetan themed film"Never Give up"was held in Beijing on Jan.18,2015.The film is based on the novel"Tibetan Children",written by a Tibetan young writer Yingsa Norbu Tsering.It tells stories of Tibetan kids such as Norbu Tsering who go to inland for studying and growing up.
