环境考古中地层学研究的几个问题

地层学研究是从事环境考古研究的基础性工作。在从事环境考古地层学研究时,既不能硬套地质学方法,也不能照搬考古地层学方法,而是应当选择典型地层,采用地质地层学与考古地层学相结合的方法进行地层划分和地层对比。另外,还需引进相关学科的科学方法从事地层学研究。     

The historical geography of islands Introduction: rethinking islands

The introduction to this special issue of five essays on the historical geography of islands considers the growing interdisciplinary interest in the material and metaphorical condition of islands. It explores how the physical and literal attributes of islands have a range of understandings such as the catalytic role of islands in shaping the modern disciplines of social anthropology and evolutionary biology. Thereafter, the Falkland Islands are used to illustrate how the complex interplay of physical and metaphorical meanings have profound implications for territorial nationalism in this case the South West Atlantic. Long viewed as an abstract territorial space, the history and geography of the Falklands reveals how islands should never be seen as simple or straightforward. The final section of this introduction details the five contributions and highlights how each author not only explores the geographical and cultural diversity of islands but also traces some of the implications for human understandings of these remarkable environments.     

有关古蔡国的几个历史地理问题

本文就古蔡国历史地理的四个问题与何光岳、刘宝和、尚景熙进行商榷,以为：“蔡”的本意是草,后被用作地名,又因该地产龟,故又称龟为蔡龟;蔡叔度的始封地不在祭城,也不在长垣,而是庸阝城;蔡国初建都于上蔡,迁至新蔡;上蔡在西周春秋时有重要地位。     

Foreign banks in the pacific: a note

The lives of Pacific Islanders during World War II can be described through a combination of documentary and oral history. This article reviews the experiences of the people of Chuuk (formerly ‘Truk’) in the Central Caroline Islands during the Pacific War. Chuuk served as headquarters for the Japanese Imperial Navy's Fourth Fleet and, later, rear area headquarters for the Combined Fleet. When the Japanese military shifted to defence in mid-1943, troops fortified the island, resulting in the confiscation of land and relocation of the Chuukese. From late 1943 to August 1945, Chuukese experience was shaped by Allied bombing, intensive labour demands from the Japanese garrison, and severe food shortages. After surrender, Chuuk was occupied by a minimal US Navy presence. The war and its aftermath shaped modern Chuuk through permanent changes in its resources, economy and political role.     

明清侨寓徽商子弟教育的特色

明清时期,徽商在经商之地侨寓的现象相当普遍,为子弟成名计,徽商及其子弟在侨寓地展开了一系列教育活动,并形成了自己鲜明的特色：教育成效卓著,教育与科举发展存在县份分布上的不平衡;徽商取代士而成为明清侨寓徽商子弟教育机构创办的真正主体;教育理念开放变通等。这既体现了明清的时代特色,也与商人教育的特点相契合。     

Some problems of varying overlap between secondary and higher education

Abstract

This paper identifies some of the problems created by the varying school geography backgrounds of students entering higher education. They are illustrated by examining students’ varying knowledge of the models of von Thunen, Christaller and Weber and some possible solutions to the problems are suggested.
