Theory of functional systems in the scientific school of P.K. Anokhin

In this paper we present brief biographical data of the outstanding Russian physiologist P.K. Anokhin and the stages of formation of the theory of functional systems, proposed by him. Furthermore we will deal with the architectonics of system organization of behavioral acts, underlying principles of the theory of functional systems as a part of the general theory of systems and the evolution of the theory of functional systems in the Anokhin Scientific School.

新郑唐户新石器时代遗址的仰韶文化内涵丰富,依据采集的大量陶器的器物特征,可分为早、中、晚三期,这对于解决遗址性质、区分区域类型、排列文化谱系以及今后这一带新石器时代的考古发掘与研究,都具有重要的参考价值.众多文献记载,新郑是传说中的黄帝故里,该遗址的南部传为"黄帝口",其仰韶文化遗存又十分丰富,这可能与传说时代黄帝氏族的重要中心聚落有关.

Investigations in the U.S.S.R. of non-linear phenomena in the ionosphere

Investigations of non-linear ionospheric phenomena in the U.S.S.R. are reviewed. The facilities available and some non-linear phenomena first observed with these facilities are described. Among these are strong heating and non-linear absorption in lower parts of the ionosphere, self-modulation caused by intense Langmuir oscillations, the modulation of the auroral electrojet at VLF, stimulated ionization in the F-region, self-focusing effects at oblique incidence as well as many theoretical investigations of non-linear phenomena.     

Prehistoric Investigations in Cantabrian Spain

Abstract

The rich Paleolithic record from Cantabrian Spain has long been interpreted in light of the phylogenetic, chronological scheme developed largely in the Périgord region of SW France, despite important differences in industries, environments, and faunas. This paper outlines the development of prehistoric research in Cantabria from its beginnings a century ago to the present, from the early work of establishing a regional chronology to the on-going attempts to understand and explain the changing regional adaptations of Pleistocene and early Post-Pleistocene hunter-gatherers. Cantabria is usually treated only in passing in syntheses of the prehistory of Western Europe, and its extensive literature is far less widely known than that of SW France. We hope in part to remedy the situation by providing a concise regional overview and an extensive bibliography of classic and modern references.

Preliminary conclusions from archaeological investigations and allied paleoenvironmental research by members of the La Riera Paleoecological Project are also discussed. The La Riera Project is an example of a modern, problem-oriented regional approach to the study of prehistoric human adaptation. It was designed to generate and test hypotheses about Late and Post-Pleistocene ecosystems in Cantabrian Spain. These hypotheses examine the relationships among habitat selection, site location, and climatic change, test for periodicity in prehistoric occupation, and examine patterns of covariance in artifact and faunal debris categories with the objective of isolating changes in adaptation recoverable from the 12,000 year record at the La Riera cave, and at other sites of comparable antiquity in the Cantabrian zone. Preliminary results define patterns of site-functional variation at La Riera related to prehistoric activity sets. These patterns appear to cut across the culture/stratigraphic units upon which much Upper Paleolithic research in western Europe is based.

Brashier,K.E.Public Memory in Early China

In his previous book, Ancestral Memory in Early China (2011), K.E.Brashier, a religious studies professor at Reed College, illuminated our understanding of early Chinese ancestral cults and established himself as an indisputable authority on the topic.To do so, he delineated how deceased ancestors were transformed into living memory in early China, covering roughly the early Zhou to the end of the Later Han dynasty.Brashier examined a wide variety of textual records relevant to rituals and customs surrounding ancestral worship and also analyzed their cognitive aspects.Adopting the performance theory framework, he showed the interactions between the living and the dead via the practice of rituals and the psychological manipulation of the ritual performers before and during ceremonies of ancestral sacrifice.This effort also advanced discussions of the concepts of afterworld and afterlife in early China.     

Gungthang Kingdom City in the Border of China and Nepal - A Series of Archeological Trips in Gyirong County

The high plateau enjoys clear, fresh air and the sunbeams down from the high blue sky to bathe the magnificent landscape in sunlight. It seems the mountains and the rivers of Gyirong are colored in strikingly vivid hues, enabling everything in the landscape, either living or inanimate, to appear bright and even brilliant. Standing in the downtown area of Gyirong County, facing the mountain valley to overlook Gyirong in the distance, I see a zigzagging road has been constructed on the southwest flank of the city to access Gyirong Valley.
