1.2 Million Tibetan Farmers and Herdsmen Relocated to New Houses
Before January of 2010 the Tibetan local government, in order to improve housing conditions, allocated a total of 2.86 billion Yuan in supplementary funding towards a housing construction project for Tibetan farmers and herdsmen. The project includes 226,302 households. A total of 1.2 million farmers and herdsmen have been successfully moved to safe and comfortable new houses.

Stone Carvings from the Qing Dynasty Found in Chamdo In the middle of March,a group of stone carvings-originating from the Qing Dynasty-were found at Taktse Village of Lhatse Township in Palbar of Chamdo. Of around 140 stone carvings,the biggest one is 85 cm high and 64 cm wide.Most of them are small and 25 cm is usual. Experts found the carvings were colourfully painted,highly detailed and lifelike in execution.

China Exhibition on Contemporary Tibetan Paintings Held in Sidney The exhibitioin was held in the Sofitel Wentworth Sydney Hotel in the evening of March 22, 2006. The three-week exhibition was sponsored the Sidney Wentworth Art Gallery, the China Tibetan Association of Literary and Art Circles, the Li Keran Art Foundation and the Chinese Consulate General in Sidney. It showed some 60 works by 10 contemporary Tibetan painters.
