人文主义地理学与地理学人本传统的复兴

实证主义地理学是通过"认识论翻转"确定均质化空间而保证其有效性的,这在根本上规定了实证主义方法论中人文世界的隐没。人类科学理性的缔造经过"认识论翻转",确保了其割裂人文世界的普世价值观,并随着实证主义在近现代的成功和学科建制化而得到制度保障。这一历程在显示实证主义对地理学神圣指导作用的同时,暗含了其对地理学分工的不适。在"认识论翻转"层面上,人文主义地理学对地理学研究传统进行了"否思":①重新评估了地理学的本体论问题,使人文世界定位于地理学研究领域之内;②发展了针对人文世界的整体主义方法论,但并非对实证主义的反判;③人文主义地理学的立足点伦理和价值是内在的而非实证主义外在的;④人文主义地理学讨论的知识论要求"本体论-认识论与方法论-价值论"的联通以获得具有人性的世界图景。     

FORGOTTEN COLONIZERS: THE IMPERIAL ORDER DAUGHTERS OF THE EMPIRE (IODE) AND THE CANADIAN NORTH

Focusing on the work of a Canadian women's voluntary organization, this paper discusses the changing geography of the Canadian North in the period following World War II. The focus on the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire (IODE) as forgotten colonizers challenges exclusionary records of the past that do not account for the importance of domestic spaces in the colonial process. A new interpretation of the colonization of the North, which dislodges and complicates the process to reveal the connections, tensions, and ironies between national and imperial identities, is simultaneously offered. The spaces from which the IODE has worked to make the North a part of Canada have had everything to do with its shifting and contradictory place as a group of Anglo-Celtic, affluent, voluntary women.
Concentré sur les travaux d'une organisation volontaire de canadiennes, cet article porte sur la géographie changeante du nord du Canada pendant l'époque suivant la deuxième guerre mondiale. En présentant 'the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire' (IODE) comme colons oubliés, l'article remet en cause les documents historiques exclusifs qui passent sous silence l'importance des places domestiques dans le marche colonial, tout en offrant une nouvelle interprétation de la colonisation du nord qui reformule et complexifie le processus et montre les liens, les tensions et les ironies entre les identités nationales et impériales. Les membres de l'IODE ont travaillé fort pour faire du Nord une partie du Canada, et les membres de l'IODE ont été liées de près a la position changeante et contradictoire du Nord même si elles faisaient partie d'un groupe de Canadiennes Anglo-Celtique, riche et volontaire.     

KINSHIP AND SOCIETY IN THE UKRAINIAN PIONEER SETTLEMENT OF THE CANADIAN WEST

The geography and internal structure of Ukrainian block settlements in western Canada illustrate the strength of social ties transferred from the homeland. Settlements were structured according to kinship, village, district, provincial, and national loyalties. In this respect the internal geography of Ukrainian block settlements in Canada replicated that of the western Ukraine in microcosm. Although Settlement within a familiar social- cultural milieu offered many advantages for the immigrant, the ultimate result was not always beneficial, since a determination to pursue social advantage in settlement led to the occupation of much agriculturally marginal land.
La géographie et la structure interne des implantations en masse des Ukrainiens dans l' ouest du Canada montrent la force des liens sociaux transmis du pays ď origine. Ces implantations furent structurées en fonction d'affinityés provenant de liens soit de parenté ou de loyauté qui existaient à des niveaux diffgrents, tel que dans le village, ou dans le quartier, au même en province ou dans des coins lointains du pays. A cet égard, la géographie interne de ce type d'implantation au Canada fut la réplique en microcosme de celle de l' ouest de l' Ukraine. Bien que l' implantation au sein d'un milieu socio-culturel connu ait offert beaucoup d'avantages à l' immigrant, le résultat final n'a pas toujours étéà son avantage, surtout lorsque la détermination de maintenir ces liens sociaux mena à l' occupation de nombreuses terres qui étaient faibles en rendements agricoles.     

PROVENANCE OF PUMICES IN THE NORTH COAST OF CYPRUS

With the aim of establishing the provenance of pumices along the North Coast of Cyprus, from Morphou to Kormakiti, chemical analysis, refractive indices determinations and mineralogical examination have been performed. On the basis of the experimental data the pumices can be distinguished into two groups. For the first one a provenance from Santorini can be established, for the second Yali, Kos and Milos can be taken into consideration as source localities.
