Serfs＇ Wrath——Recollection of the Clay Sculptures

In 1974, in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the founding of Tibetan Autonomous Region,the Tibetan Revolution Exhibition Hall invited more than 10 teachers from the sculpture department of the Cen-tral Academy of Fine Arts and Luxun Academy of Fine Arts to create a group of sculptures with the motif of serfs‘ life under serfdom and their resistance.

正The 6th Beijing International Seminar on Tibetan Studies Held Successfully The three-day international seminar on Tibetan studies was held from Aug.2nd to 4th in Beijing.A total of 325 scholars and observers attended this seminar,with 216 delegates from China and 109 delegates coming from abroad.Over the course of the three day seminar,there were 19 group discussions.

Beijing Tibet Middle School

The year marks the 20th anniversary of the Central Government decision to run Tibet middle schools in the hinterland. At present, there are such schools or Tibetan classes in 26 provinces and municipalities directly under the Central Government. They work to train technical personnel and teachers for Tibet. Launched in 1987, the Beijing Tibet Middle School has since trained more than 2,800 middle and high school students for Tibet. Many of them returned to Tibet for construction.

Dorde Qoiba——Traditional Activity of The Samye Monastery

The Samye Monastery in Shannan holds rituals to worship sutras on the 15th day of each 5th month. Worshipping sutras is called ＂Dorde Qoiba＂ in Tibetan, and the tradition was said to have been created by Muni Tsampo of the Tubo period.

The 6th Beijing International Seminar on Tibetan Studies held in Beijing from August 2nd-4th,2016,was convened by the China Association for Protection and Development of Tibetan Culture,the China Tibetology Research Center (CTRC),and the Tibetan Academy of Social Sciences (TASS),TAR.In total,325 scholars attended the seminar,among whom 216 were Chinese and 109 were from abroad.The seminar received 416 papers and selected 308.

FIRST TIBETAN WEATHER OBSERVER VISITS THE SOUTH POLE

Thousands of scientists in the world have visited the South Pole for scientific survey, but one of the most unique is Benba Cering from Tibet and the first Tibetan to do the work. THE THREE MASTERS OF JO OLDRUM

The ＂three masters of Jo Oldrum＂ refers to Guru Jo Olgyal Palden Atisha and his two disciples： Drumdompa Gyaiwarongne and O1 Lepal Sherab who lived in the 10th Century. In Thangka and frescos, Guru Atisha sits in the middle, and his two disciples on either side. Such works are commonly found in the shrines of Tibetan monasteries. All three were initiated into the Sect of Kadam in Tibetan Buddhism during the 10th Century.

正Themed as inheritance,integration,innovation and development,the conference is to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Lhasa Men-Tsee-Khang(renamed as Tibetan Medical Hospital of TAR since 1980)and carry forward the Tibetan medicine.The conference received 241 academic theses on the basic theory,clinical diagnosis and treatment of the Tibetan medicine in Tibetan,Han and English.     

Talent Cultivation Project Onthe Move

In the golden autumn of 2002, a ceremony was held in Lhasa for the Tibet Development Fund to donate to the Talent Cultivation Project. Nineteen Tibetan students currently studying in the hinterland and Tibetan universities and high schools, whose families live below the poverty line, formed the first group of recipients; 24 others belong to the second group to be aided.
