The first rays of a new dawn have been cast upon the earth.Tibetan families all across the"roof of the world"are now beginning their normal routines.The first step is to brew a fresh batch of buttered tea,a warm welcome to the day ahead.Tea houses are ubiquitous throughout all of Tibet’s avenues,streets,and lanes.These only serve to solidify the popular proverb,"Three days without food is one thing,but life cannot go on without a single bowl of tea."Buttered tea,of course,is an impeccable necessity for Tibetans.Indeed,tea absolutely enjoys unrivalled status in the daily lives of the people inhabiting the plateau.

Shalu Monastery is one of the most famous Tibetan Buddhist monasteries and is seated in Gyatso Shong Township of Shigatse Municipality in the Tibet Autonomous Region.The monastery is rich in murals that total over a thousand square meters in wall space,putting on display a fine example of Tibetan Buddhist mural art from the Yuan dynasty.

Since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949,tremendous achievements have been made in archaeology in Tibet.A series of new archaeological finds provided important physical evidence for rewriting the ancient history of Tibet,proving eloquently the close connection between Tibetan and mainland Chinese cultures and outlining how Tibetan civilization gradually became part of the Chinese nation as a whole.Starting from this issue,the column will introduce some of the most influential archaeological discoveries.

由于西藏的高天厚土,独特丰富的人文风貌,这片土地在被人们提起时,出现在人们脑海中的形象无疑都是阳光灿烂的温暖和连绵雪山的壮观。而这些鲜明的形象,很多都是由反映西藏的摄影作品提供的,这些形象在媒体中反复使用,激起了一波又一波的西藏热。今年是西藏和平解放60周年,西藏更成了人们眼中的焦点。5月23日,在这个60年前西藏和平协议签订的特殊日子,一批反映西藏生活的优秀摄影作品在北京民族文化宫展出了。     

边疆史视野下西藏研究60年

近代以来,中国学界渐与西方学界接轨,摒弃了传统的志略体,开始用现代方法来研究中国的疆域史.在1949年以前,在民族救亡与边疆危机的激励下,以西藏研究为中心的学者接受了西方范式建立了西藏史研究体系,研究风格趋于成熟.1949年以后,由于马克思主义研究方法的导入,西藏史研究开始了新的转变,在上世纪五十年代形成以边疆民族社会历史调查为主的研究格局.1959年达赖集团的外逃、中印边界战争的爆发又使西藏历史研究内容更加丰富化.

西藏一年

书云/作家,制片人。生于上世纪60年代。1982年考入北京大学英语系,之后在牛津大学圣安东尼学院攻读国际关系,毕业后现在英国从事电视制作。首部导演的纪录片《半边天》讲述一家四代中国妇女的命运,获得瑞典“环球南北电视大奖”最佳纪录片奖。1997年,参与制作的《百年叱咤风云录》获得“艾美奖”最佳纪录片大奖。     

西藏五年

1944年春,正值抗日战争最艰苦之时。国民党政府任命沈宗濂为驻藏办事处处长,接替原处长孔庆宗。我的父亲陈锡璋时任驻藏办事处主任秘书。     

藏北羌塘展新颜——西藏民主改革60年那曲经济社会发展成就显著

平均海拔4500米以上的西藏自治区那曲市,是真正意义上的高天厚土,世代居住在这里的人们脚踏冻土、仰望雪峰,克服高寒缺氧的气候条件,书写出了一个"别样"的那曲——经济繁荣发展、生态环境良好、人民生活幸福。新中国成立70年、西藏民主改革60年来,那曲各族干部群众在浙江、辽宁两省和中央五大国有企业的无私援助下,积极投身社会主义新那曲的伟大实践,实现了各项事业从无到有、从小到大、从弱到强的历史性跨越。     

1959年西藏平叛

蓝天、白云、雪山、草地,高峻辽阔的青藏高原是那样的神圣壮丽。新中国建立后,高原上的藏民们摆脱了农奴制的枷锁,拥有了自己的土地和牧场,喜悦绽放在饱经风霜的的脸上。可是牧民的解放,却令西藏的一些上层贵族大失所望,帝国主义也并不甘心失败,他们勾结起来,利用一切机会进行着分离中国的活动。     

好好过西藏年

今年我们决定结伴同行去拉萨欢欢喜喜乐乐呵呵痛痛快快过大年！     

庆祝西藏和平解放60周年摄影比赛征稿启事

为庆祝西藏和平解放60周年,《中国西藏》杂志社与西藏自治区文学艺术界联合会拟举办“见证西藏60年”主题摄影大赛。现特向国内外摄影爱好者征集西藏题材的摄影作品。参赛作品除角逐相关奖项外,优秀作品还将参加由主办单位于2011年5月在拉萨、北京等地举办的摄影巡回展。     

我画西藏30年

算起来,我画西藏的时间已经有37年了。在西藏的日子是我最难忘的人生经历,西藏是我最重要的绘画题材。大学时代,充满对远方的幻想,喜欢看杰克伦敦、海明威的书,向往他们的传奇经历。1983年陈丹青的《西藏组画》的展览和发表对我触动很大,我被高原上的藏族人的形象、西藏文化、高原上的大自然所吸引,知道了还有那样一个神奇的地方和那样一个质朴的民族。

亲历1959年西藏平叛

1956年,根据组织上的安排,我作为邮电部的干部来到西藏邮电管理局工作,亲身经历1959年西藏反动上层集团发动的叛乱,并参与了平叛斗争。
