《史学集刊》创刊1956—2006 50周年纪念

今年是《史学集刊》创刊50周年。50年前,这份学术刊物刚诞生时,即标举实事求是、探索创新的学术精神,坚持马克思主义基本原理,以传承学术薪火为旨要,以弘扬历史文化为皓的,孜孜追求学术研究的至臻境界,未曾稍懈。其间虽因故停刊,但1981年复刊后仍秉承初创时的办刊理路,不随波逐流,不趋时媚俗,惟学术质量至上,惟学术精神是求,于澹泊中践行求真、求实的学术真谛,为学界同人倾心营造纯洁雅致的学术家园。全体编辑人员愿继续奉此为圭臬,一如既往地为史学研究搭建进步的学术阶梯。     

Millennia Anniversary of King Gesar

In November 2001, UNESCO approved China's proposal for celebrating the millennium anniversary of King Gesar in 2002-2003. The Chinese deem this as a confirmation of their efforts to rescue, compile, translate and publish the longest epic in the world. Efforts have since been made to prepare for the event. 行书五言联 今年是我国近代著名学者、书法家胡小石先生诞辰一百二十周年的日子。胡小石（1888-1962年）名光炜、字小石，号倩尹，又号夏庐，晚年别号子夏、沙公。原籍浙江嘉兴，生于南京。少承家学。1909年毕业于两江优级师范学堂，师从校长李瑞清。     

Third Anniversary of the Beijing to Lhasa Train

On July 1stof 2006, the Beijing to Lhasa train accepted its first passengers. Later, train services commenced from Guangzhou to Lhasa, Chongqing to Lhasa and Chengdu to Lhasa, Shanghai to Lhasa. Within three years, the total number of passengers reached millions. This greatly accelerated economic growth and the tourist industry of TAR.     

350th Anniversary of Les Passions de l'Ame

1999 marks the three hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the publication of Descartes' final work: Les Passions de l'Ame. This short paper commemorates that event and discusses the circumstances contributing to its origin and the questions which it still raises for neuropsychology three hundred and fifty years later.

Cinchona and Quinine: A Remarkable Anniversary

Abstract

The use of the bark of the 'fever tree', cinchona, to cure intermittent fevers was first described in print by an Augustian monk in 1638, just over 350 years ago. The discovery and the first records are here chronicled. As such fevers were widespread, demand for the bark increased greatly, and attempts were made to establish cinchona tree plantations in tropical zones, most of them unsuccessfully. Only Dutch commercial production in what is now Indonesia was profitable. Chemical synthesis of antimalarial drugs reduced natural production of quinine for a time, but as drug resistance among the parasites that cause the malaria has increased, culvitation of the natural source has again become important.     

国家宝藏——记河南博物院建院八十周年特展

2007年12月6日,为庆祝建院80周年,河南博物院隆重推出“国家宝藏”展览。展览汇聚了中国国家博物馆、故宫博物院、中国社会科学院考古研究所、天津博物馆、辽宁省博物馆、河南博物院、河南省文物考古研究所、洛阳博物馆、开封博物馆等9家文物收藏单位的国宝文物103件组,其规模之大、文物等级之高、艺术品相之美、蕴涵文化信息之丰富,在河南博物院历史上都是空前的。国家宝藏展览分为国宝省亲与国宝汇聚两部分。     

胸襟潇洒墨花飞 纪念蒲华逝世一百周年

一 生于嘉兴的蒲华（1832～1911年）,是晚清海派具有创造性精神的代表画家之一,与虚谷、任颐和吴昌硕并称“海派四杰”（图1）。今年适逢蒲华逝世一百周年,为纪念这位传奇人物,7月,由嘉兴博物馆牵头,联合浙江省博物馆、温州博物馆、杭州历史博物馆、湖州市博物馆、舟山博物馆。     

40th Anniversary of the Founding of TAR Celebrated

The Tibet Autonomous Region celebrated its 40th anniversary on September 1,2005.From August 27 to September 3,2005,a 57-member Central Government Delegation headed by Jia Qinglin （member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee）were in Tibet for the celebration.
