I have known old Toinzhub for years. After only one meeting, he seemed to sense what was on my mind and could always talk about my favorite subject. A day passes by slowly along with his sips of liquor and his vivid and detailed narration. 相似文献

Kunsang Yangzom burst into tears. If the Beijing medical team, aiming to complete a medical survey and treatment, did not drive 220-odd kilometers from Lhasa to Nakartse County in Lhoka Prefecture, the l 1-year-old little girl would never have known she had a congenital heart disease. If she had missed this opportunity to get treatment, in the coming some days her life would be at risk due to heart failure which might be caused by pulmonary hypertension and endocarditis. 相似文献

About 50 years ago, people going into and out of Tibet could only rely on their own backs and pack-horses to transport something. Then,it would take more than 100 days to go to the hinterland from Lhasa, and a round trip would take about a year. The QinghaiTibet Railway will tell the world that the only region without a railway in China will soon lose this title. This is obviously an exciting and great event! 相似文献

"This year, I have seemingly become a famous movie star as my name is well-known amongst many overseas tourists traveling to Gyantse. It is incredible to me that this documentary series had such a great influence after being broadcasted all over theworld. I remember the time when Sun Shuyun (the director of the documentary) came to invite me to be the main character of the documentary and be followed everyday with a camera behind me. To some extent, I did feel frustrated during that particular period." 相似文献

Comparing Beijing and the Tibet Autonomous Region; one is the capital of China, but the other is the snowcapped plateau. Though they are far apart in distance (thanks to the countless mountains and rivers) they are also very close - only one day to reach each other. Years ago, the song "At the gold mountain of Beijing" sung by Tseten Drama, the famous Tibetan singer, in praise of the political and cultural center. Today, tens of thousands of Tibetans have formed one inseparable part of the many groups in Beijing embracing multiple cultures. 相似文献

The entire Ngolok-Seta country between what is present-day's Ngolok (mgo-log)prefecture (Chin. Guoluo) in China's Qinghai province, Serta county in Kandse (dkar-mdzes)prefecture and the northwestern parts of modern Ngawa(rnga-ba) prefecture (Chin. Aba) in Sichuan was a white spot on the Ti-bet map until the mid-20th century. Particularly the districts defined by the present Ngawa and Dzamthang (Chin. Rangtang) counties were inaccessible for any foreign traveller in historic time. Ngawa already constituted an isolated Ti-betan cultural realm, yet Dzamthang to its west was a true hidden land. The latter is reached by a 18o km drive from the Ngawa prefecture's seat, Barkham (Chin. Ma'erkang), in less than half a day. 相似文献

In the outer circle of the Barkor Street,Lhasa City of Tibet,a gallery named as"Art Gallery of Traditional Handcrafts"is located, specializing by making clay sculptures and masks. Surprisingly, two artisans have the same name as Penpa who are working for this gallery. For the sake of easily identifying them, people are used to calling the elder one as senior Penpa, and the young one as junior Penpa.Their common perspective might be that they both have already worked for making masks for 12 years. They,by 相似文献

Istill remember the facial expression of two foreign women a few days ago. Just like me, they were visiting an exhibitionof Tibet, but confused in front of a glass window. They asked me for help. When I explained to them that big stone hat was used to punish "criminals"(actually those poor serfs maybe without committing any crime) by pressing their eyes out, they both were so shocked and surprised, thinking that was horrible and incredibly cruel. 相似文献

Compared to the dubbing, the version of subtitling has many defects, including the faults purely in language translation and the inaccuracy in the cultural images. As a media of cultural communication, the translator of the subtitling has to pay enough attention to the art of language, and has to take strategies centering on the audience, promoting the cultural communication and reducing the cultural differences. 相似文献

Located on Dongshan Island, off the coast of Fujian province,is a typical rural village called Tongbo. On May 10,1950,147 men were abducted by the KMT army on its way to Taiwan.Since a majority of the men were already married, overnight, their wives became "widows," and most would remain so for the rest of their lives.Consequently,Tongbo village became more widely known as Widow Village. The first objective of this paper is to document the tragic experiences of men and women in Tongbo village, focusing on these forced separations in 1950,the possibility of reunion after 1987,and the struggle to cope with the difficulties in between. The second objective of this paper is to argue that while heartbreaking, the experiences of this village are not extraordinary in the context of the Chinese Civil War.What made the men and women in Tongbo extraordinary is not their collective suffering, but how these villagers suffered less, not more, than in many other places, because of the actions of three key figures. 相似文献

Abstract In early 1919, people like Hu Shi and Chen Duxiu were regarded as members of an ivory-tower "academic faction" (xuepai), embroiled in a debate with an opposing "faction." After the May Fourth demonstrations, they were praised as the stars of a "New Culture Movement." However, it was not obvious how the circle around Hu Shi and Chert Duxiu was associated with the May Fourth demonstrations. This link hinged on the way in which newspapers like Shenbao reported about the academic debates and the political events of May Fourth. After compartmentalizing the debating academics into fixed xuepai, Shenbao ascribed warlord-political allegiances to them. These made the Hu-Chen circle look like government victims and their "factional" rivals like the warlords' allies. When the atmosphere became hostile to the government during May Fourth, Hu Shi's "faction" became associated with the equally victimized May Fourth demonstrators. Their ideas were regarded as (now popular) expressions of anti-government sentiment, and soon this was labeled the core of the "New Culture Movement." The idea and rhetoric of China's "New Culture Movement" in this way emerged out of the fortuitous concatenation of academic debates, newspaper stories, and political events. 相似文献
