Folklore as a discipline had promising beginnings in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. By the end of the twentieth century, however, the academic study had begun to fade in academies, and the substantive content had lost a great deal of public interest. Three books deal with the practice of folk studies and ask the question of where folklore might go in the twenty-first century. One looks at the theoretical history of the discipline, while the other two have an ethnographic bent and open up folk materials to embodied and reflexive analysis.  相似文献

20世纪80年代以来,作为对灵肉二元论的反叛,身体成为西方人文社会各学科持久的热点之一。1989年美国民俗学年会上,民俗学家凯瑟琳·扬依照民俗(folklore)的构词法,创造性地提出"身体民俗"(bodylore)一词,着力于探讨有关身体的民俗或知识,特别是身体如何参与构建社会意义。本文主要追溯美国民俗学身体转向的社会与学术思潮背景,勾勒其基本理论视角与研究路径,并指出身体性、身体知识是民俗知识的根本属性之一。  相似文献

The folklore associated with fish otoliths is traced from classical times to the present day for the first time. Otolithomancy involved divination of maritime weather conditions by consulting the properties and morphology of the “stones.” In folk medicine, they were employed in the treatment of renal problems, malarial fever, nose bleeds, jaundice, pain, and swellings in the groin. They were also believed to act as aphrodisiacs. Modern applications include the treatment of urinary tract infections in Turkey, fever in Spain, and asthma and back pain in Brazil.  相似文献

During the first two-thirds of the twentieth century, it was commonplace among historians that the common people of medieval England had remained substantially pagan in their religious beliefs. Christianity, according to this view, was essentially the faith of the elite, with the populace embracing what was at best a dual allegiance to the new and old religions. This view has now disappeared, and the time seems right to take stock of medieval popular religion in England with a view to solving three problems: why did the concept of a pagan medieval populace develop, flourish for so long and then decline; what is the actual evidence for medieval popular belief; and what new perspectives can be taken on medieval English Christianity by employing comparisons with paganism?  相似文献

中国民俗学三十年的发展历程   总被引:4,自引:1,他引:3  
重视民风民俗,是中国至少从周代就开创的一项文化传统,从《诗经》、汉魏乐府民歌、《史记·货殖列传》、《汉书·地理志》、《荆楚岁时记》以降一直沿袭下来。但是,作为一门现代学科,中国的民俗学从比较宽泛的意义来算大概只有90年的历史,从比较严格的意义来算,只能说是最近30年才成熟起来。在西学东渐的大潮中,一些学者得风气之先,借鉴西方的学术资源,引入搜集口头传统文学和调查风俗的方法,逐步在中国学界发展出关于民间文化的各个门类的学术事业。这种学术,先是多学科学者的“业余”爱好,然后才发展成专业的人才队伍;先是以非正式学科体制的方式运作,后来才有机会成为国家学科建制中的一个专业。  相似文献
