William O. Douglas Remembered: A Collective Memory by WOD's Law Clerks

William O. Douglas (WOD), who was the longest-serving Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court, was an Associate Justice from April 17, 1939 to November 19, 1975, and thereafter was a retired Justice until his death on January 19, 1980. During this period he employed fifty-four law clerks, one for each Term of the Court except for the 1950, 1967, and 1970 Terms, when he employed two clerks, and starting in the 1971 Term, when he had three clerks until his retirement. Forty-one of his law clerks are still alive, including his first law clerk, David Ginsburg, who at the age of 95 remains mentally and physically active and only recently “retired” from his law practice.

一积学斋主人卒年考 <南陵县志>云"光绪癸巳[1893]恩科,徐乃昌,字积余,号随庵,覃恩一品,封典赏戴花翎,二品衔官,淮安知府,特授江南盐巡道监督金陵关."①虽然此书是徐乃昌纂修,但也未记载他的出生年.

C. Douglas Dillon,President Kennedy's Economic Envoy*

This article focuses on President John F. Kennedy's Secretary of the Treasury, C. Douglas Dillon and contends that he played an important part in sustaining the political cooperation that underpinned the Bretton-Woods system during one of its first crisis points. Rather than focusing solely on structural, economic trends, the article suggests that individual actors mattered as well. As a bipartisan figure that was well regarded in Europe, Dillon was able to act effectively as an envoy to the private sector, principally Wall Street, and to France, which both threatened the stability of the dollar. The article explores Dillon's role in shaping Kennedy's economic policies in a more conservative direction than his successor, Lyndon B. Johnson, and in his external efforts to garner support for the Democratic administration.     

郑振铎《求书日录》佚稿

郑振铎先生生前,曾发表过经他自己整理的日记两种.一是《欧行日记》,乃其青年时因大革命失败而避难国外的日记,1934年10月31日上海良友图书印刷公司出版,所记为1927年5月21日至8月31日.
