On hearing several times that there is a thousand-year-old walnut tree in Nyamo Town in Shigatse, I was curious, as I had never heard of a thousand year old tree in my life, except for cypress and ginkgo in my hometown. I have not had a chance to have a look at it but heard lots of both legends and true stories about this tree. In awe and expectation, I paid a visit to see the thousand-year walnut tree. I remember in my hometown there is an old tree which people referred to as the "divine tree". Every time 1 visited this divine tree, my heart was always in awe. I even dared not to get too close and only watched it from a distance because I was afraid of giving any offense to the holy tree. People say every divine tree would change to another kind. But in my memory, since I was a child, I did not see any trees change species, which I actually found disappointing.  相似文献

The white-lipped deer lives on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. As a creature of strength and cunning,it is both mighty and meek. Also known as"Shawa Quxa"by Tibetan people, the white-lipped deer has a large body, similar to a red deer or sambar. As a unique species on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,it has white fur around its lips and on its jaw, hence the name. In October of 2011,I was assigned to work in a remote place,a village  相似文献

A Colorful Life
As we publish this issue, it is in early summer in Beijing. Whenever I walk out of my office close to the chief avenue, Chang'an, I get lost in green trees and blossoming flowers.Chang'an Avenue is the most bustling street in the city. While cars speed along it toward their own destinations, Tian'anmen Square, east of my office building, is a different scene: while the old  相似文献

正The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, famous for being the"roof of the world", is a place many people would never dare travel. It is almost unfathomable that some of the earliest human beings made their way up to this snowcovered area. To add to the unlikelihood of it all, these humans even had trade systems going with those living in surrounding areas. New  相似文献

About 50 years ago, people going into and out of Tibet could only rely on their own backs and pack-horses to transport something. Then, it would take more than 100 days to go to the hinterland from Lhasa, and a round trip would take about a year. The Qinghai-Tibet Railway will tell the world that the only region without a railway in China will soon lose this title. This is obviously an exciting and great event! Given the hard natural condition as well as many streams of people and cargos, it is still difficult to transport them by plane and automobile.  相似文献

The discovery at Gebel el Silsila in 2015 of a scene depicting the transport of obelisks by watercraft provided the opportunity to reconsider the means and hull type that could be employed for this task, other than the lighter depicted in Hatshepsuts’temple at Deir el Bahari.Although seriously damaged,it was clear that the Gebel el Silsila craft was a different hull type to the Hatshepsut lighter. In this article,I advance concepts regarding the Gebel el Silsila scene. These include the sizes of the obelisks aboard, their means of stowage, some proposals as to the size of the hull and an attempt to deduce the hull type itself. As this is the only known depiction of obelisk transportation, other than the Hatshepsut scene,it is hoped that this paper will provoke additional examination, research and rigorous debate into this depiction of obelisk transportation.  相似文献

Before seeing Asgen I had imagined a girl who has been on the stage of various parties on CCTV(China Central Television)many times for such a young age.She might have the air of a star but when I saw her the first time,my former suspicions all vanished right away. Before me,was a Tibetan girl who is so pretty, nice and easy going. When Asgen did the interview with me,the sunshine shone through the window and it was warm and peaceful in the room.As she spoke to me, her eyes were attentive and her voice seemed to penetrate one’s heart with enchantment.  相似文献

April 2005 was the charming spring season in China'shinterland, but the snowflakes still flew in the airalong the section of the Qinghai-Tibet Highway inthe northern plateau of Tibet.Braving the frozen wind and snow we gathered material reportsalong this section, and respectfully listened to the stories of theroad maintenance workers.Yang Zhanfu, deputy head of the Yinshiping Road Section, said: "In 1953, my father entered Tibet driving a camel. On a spring day, I went back to my hometown in a rural area. The spring plowing was about to begin. In the suburbs of Lhasa, farmers have made use of seeding-machines, so that only one or two people are able to finish sowing a large piece of land in a very short time and the spring plowing can be concluded in just a few days. However, in my hometown, each family raises one or two head of strong farm cattle, and they are still used to pull the plows.  相似文献

The West Yellow Temple is currently the location of the Senior Tibetan Buddhist College of China in Beijing, situated at the outer area of Andingmen and Deshengmen. This temple is an over 350 years old and covered with glazed tiles onthe roof, surrounded by a red wall and beautified by giant cypresses in the courtyard. Inside it looks solemn but spectacular. The splendid and exquisite architecture of the buildings is a perfect integration of the styles of Han, ethnic Tibetan and India and is referred to as a treasure of Tibetan Buddhist style architecture.  相似文献
