西部山区乡村聚落空间演进研究的主要进展

西部山区由于生境条件差,很多地区面临较大的人口压力,生态问题和贫困问题长期交织在一起,不仅一直受政府扶贫工作的关注,也受区域乃至全球生态保护和社会发展相关组织的关注。本文主要从不同时间段、不同地区梳理了自20世纪初以来西部山区乡村聚落空间分布规律及其影响因素的研究,从理论、实证及生态系统等多角度对西部山区乡村聚落空间演化的过程及其成因机制进行了分析。作者认为随着多学科融合程度的加强,山区乡村聚落演化的研究逐步从以案例区分析为主的一般性的规律揭示走向以模式探寻为主的普适化的理论体系构建,对于山区乡村聚落,由于涉及更多的生态、贫困等多种区域发展问题,开展乡村聚落空间演化的综合性研究的需求会更加迫切,并在此基础上指出未来研究的方向。     

有机-无机杂化物在铁质文物保护中的应用研究

常用的铁质文物表面保护材料性能尚需完善,其与材料科学发展的关系甚密。有机-无机杂化物是材料学领域的新兴产物,它能将有机物和无机物的性能融为一体或赋予其新的性能。本工作根据溶胶-凝胶法的基本原理制备出一种有机广无机杂化物MT,经过盐雾加速腐蚀测试、电化学测试等大量模拟、对比实验,证明该文物保护剂能够有效减缓铁质文物的腐蚀,并解释了其封护保护原理。     

Renegotiating the Primary School: Children's Emotional Geographies of Sport,Exercise and Active Play

The current UK policy concern with children's health has led to primary school practices of sport, exercise and active play aimed, in particular, at constructing children's bodies as ‘healthy’. Qualitative explorations of children's own values and experiences however, reveal that their understandings of sport in school differ considerably from its potential to be healthy, instead emphasising emotional geographies of pleasure and enjoyment. This article aims to develop a better understanding of children's ability to modify and reconstitute discursive corporeal regimes through their own agency, thus highlighting the fluid nature of the primary school as an institution. Adult discourses and children's bodily challenges to these mingle and intersect, creating spaces of competing values and discourses that work to transform and renegotiate the primary school. Although this article focuses particularly on the UK context, the findings will be relevant for any country in which child obesity is of current concern for social and education policy.     

Plessy versus Lochner: The Berea College Case

Legal scholars and historians have often claimed to find intellectual affinities between the U.S. Supreme Court's notorious opinions in Plessy v. Ferguson and Lochner v. New York. In Plessy, the Court upheld a law requiring private railroads to enforce segregation, while in Lochner the Court invalidated a maximum hours law for bakers. Bruce Ackerman asserts that Plessy had its intellectual roots "in the laissez-faire theories expressed one decade later in cases like Lochner." In support of his thesis, Ackerman relies onthe Plessy Court's statement that if the two races are to mingle, it must be "the result of natural affinities, a mutual appreciation of each other's merits and a voluntary consent of individuals." Brook Thomas also blames the Plessy ruling on laissez-faire ideology. He argues that laissez-faire theory led the Court to seek to encourage the "natural" forces of segregation.     

Flexural Performance of Small Fir and Pine Timber Beams Strengthened With Near-Surface Mounted Carbon-Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (NSM CFRP) Plates and Rods

In order to study the flexural performance of fir and pine timber beams strengthened with near-surface mounted carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) plates and rods, bending tests on 20 specimens are carried out, including four unstrengthened specimens, four specimens strengthened with CFRP plate with the dimension of 1.4 mm × 30 mm, four specimens strengthened with CFRP plate with the dimension of 2.8 mm × 30 mm, four specimens strengthened with one Φ6 mm CFRP rod, and four specimens strengthened with one Φ8 mm CFRP rod. The proportions of fir specimens and pine specimens are 50% and 50%. The results show that compared with the unstrengthened specimens, there is an improvement in flexural capacity and stiffness of the specimens strengthened with near-surface mounted CFRP plates and rods respectively. Finally, the calculation formulas of the flexural capacity of fir and pine timber beams strengthened with near-surface mounted CFRP plates and rods are presented.

Perspectives on Australian foreign policy 2006

Australia in 2006 reaffirmed its close relationship with the United States while deepening engagement with other major power partners, with further agreements concluded with China, cooperation extended with Japan, and the profile of ties with India enhanced. Australia continued to navigate through the sometimes sensitive relations among the major powers, amid additional pressures arising from North Korea's nuclear test. Tensions with Indonesia were followed by a new security agreement, though increased confidence was needed in the relationship at both official and public levels. Internal disorder in several southwest Pacific states challenged Australia's capacities to provide effective short and medium term responses. Involvements in Afghanistan and Iraq continued, with the latter situation particularly problematic. Growing demand for energy in the Asia–Pacific region directed further attention towards Australia's uranium resources, as climate change issues assumed a higher profile in domestic debate and multilateral activities.
