算起来,我画西藏的时间已经有37年了。在西藏的日子是我最难忘的人生经历,西藏是我最重要的绘画题材。大学时代,充满对远方的幻想,喜欢看杰克伦敦、海明威的书,向往他们的传奇经历。1983年陈丹青的《西藏组画》的展览和发表对我触动很大,我被高原上的藏族人的形象、西藏文化、高原上的大自然所吸引,知道了还有那样一个神奇的地方和那样一个质朴的民族。

RETURNS TO COLLEGE MAJORS ACROSS LARGE METROPOLITAN AREAS

In this paper, we provide new evidence that earnings for various college majors differ across large metropolitan areas in the United States. We then set out to explain, at least in part, why these differences exist. We find that the intrinsic elements of geographic areas, such as common agglomeration effects and spatial differences in demand, are an important explanation for all majors. Further, we find that the endogenous sorting of individuals plays less of a role, particularly for domestic‐born college graduates. The sorting of lower‐paid, foreign‐born college graduates, however, increases the estimated dispersion in returns across geographic areas.

《Tourism Geographies》是国外旅游地理研究最具代表性的期刊之一,及时回顾国外旅游地理研究最新进展可为国内相关研究提供重要参考。本文首先采用CiteSpace知识图谱绘制软件统计分析了《Tourism Geographies》2008-2017年的449篇文献,从历年发文量与被引用情况、作者、研究机构、研究方法以及研究热点等方面阐述了国外旅游地理研究特征与研究趋势;其次,系统综述了旅游目的地、旅游者行为、旅游影响、生态旅游与可持续旅游、旅游市场营销等热点领域的研究进展,并在此基础上展望了国外旅游地理学未来的研究趋势;最后,依据国内外旅游地理研究差异,从研究方法、研究尺度以及研究范式等方面阐述了国外旅游地理研究对中国旅游地理学的启示。

VARIABLE RETURNS TO SCALE AND REGIONAL RESOURCE ALLOCATION UNDER UNCERTAINTY*

ABSTRACT. This paper investigates the resource allocational implications of intra-industrial externalities, i.e., variable returns to scale (VRS), in a two-region general equilibrium model of production under uncertainty. It is shown that most standard results concerning changes in the goods price ratio with constant returns to scale (CRS) under uncertainty generalize to VRS. In contrast, standard results concerning changes in factor endowments extend from CRS to decreasing returns to scale, but not to all permissible levels of increasing returns to scale. Thus, such theorems as factor price equalization and Rybczynski do not generalize to all real-world levels of VRS.     

A SPATIAL ANALYSIS OF SECTORAL VARIATIONS IN RETURNS TO EXTERNAL SCALE

ABSTRACT.  This paper reports results of spatially explicit analyses of external scale effects across a variety of sectors, including manufacturing. Using data from New England counties, earnings are found to exhibit increasing returns to urbanization in every sector. Returns to sectoral localization are mixed, however, with increasing returns in one sector, constant returns in five sectors, and decreasing returns in two sectors. External scale effects are fairly confined in their spatial extent, with only retailing and services particularly marked by spillover effects from neighboring counties.

Abstract

Using the records of the Guildhall and Mansion House justice rooms, this article explores the summary justice process in the City of London in the second half of the eighteenth century. It suggests that there is much to learn about the way most Londoners experienced and used the law in this period. These courts were arguably more accessible to more people than the jury courts of Assize and Quarter Sessions that have remained the focus for most studies of the history of crime and criminality. This article will provide an introduction to the nature of these courts and to the sorts of offences and offenders that were brought to them.
