The R.C.H.M.E./G.M.A.U. Joint Survey of Textile Mills in Greater Manchester

Abstract

This paper outlines progress during the first two years of the Greater Manchester Textile Mill Survey, which started in May 1985. A county-wide index to mill sites has been created, based on cartographic information, which aims to assist the assessment and comparison of large numbers of mills. A range of documentary research was undertaken and a representative sample of sites selected for individual study. The paper concludes with summaries of two selected sites in Ancoats, Manchester.

题记 2000年春,我在英国剑桥与几位清末民初英国入华传教士的后代的接触中,获得英国入华女传教士埃米莉·M·尤因斯(Emily Marry Ewins)的《辛亥家书》①,由尤因斯的长子H·M·拉滕伯里(H.Morley Rattenbury)于1989年12月编辑作注成册,共辑录尤因斯从中国汉口、武昌英国租界循道会(Wesleyan Mission)发回英国的八封家书,分别写成于1911年10月15日、10月17日、10月29日、11月9日、11月19日、11月26日、12月10日和1912年11月3日.
