Book Review:Interaction in Ancient Times:The East and West of Eurasia

One of the most important book concerning Eurasian archaeology and East-West cultural exchanges is Ancient Interactions: East and West in Eurasia, which has recently been published by the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research,University of Cambridge. Since 1998, the McDonald Institute has organized three international conferences, namely Time-depth in Historical Linguistics, Human Diversi in Europe and Beyond: Retrospect and Prospect, and Late Prehistoric Exploitation of the Eurasian Steppe.The book under review is the collection of 21 papers presented to the conference on Late Prehistoric Exploitation of the Eurasian Steppe, which provide us with a full introduction of the most recent archaeological finds in the Eurasian steppe a relevant research results. The period covered by the book ranges from the late Neolithi, to the early Iron Age. Professor Colin Renfrew, Director of the McDonald Institute, contributes an insightful introductory chapter with a focus on pastoralism and interaction.
