| Abstract: | Ancient remains are the unique subject matters of archaeology. It constitutes the primary concern of archaeological system. It also forms the fundaments of archaeological method, theory and the ultimate goals. Thus, any reasonable discussion on archaeological method, theory, and ultimate goals should specifically address the archaeological remains. A rethinking of archaeology from its subject matters improves our understanding of the archaeological system, and the developmental pathway of archaeology. It also facilitates the future development of archaeology. |
