Affiliation: | JON B. CHRISTIANSON received a B.A. from St. Olaf College (1968, economics and mathematics) and an M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1972, 1973, economics). He is Associate Professor in the Department of Public Policy, Planning, and Administration and the Department of Economics, University of Arizona, Tuscon, Arizona. His primary research interests include the market impact of HMOs, the economics of rural medical care, and regulation of long-term care facilities.;WALTER McCLURE is vice-president and director of health policy and planning for InterStudy, an independent policy research organization located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His papers and reports cover a wide range of health policy issues, including private and public approaches to contain medical care costs, improved methods to assure medical care quality, the reduction of excess hospital capacity, and alternative approaches to national health insurance. |
