On the Reasons of Australia's Engagement in the Korean War

Seen from the process of diplomatic development, Australia's engagement in the Korean War was out of the desire to play an active and constructive role in regional and international affairs. As a member of the British Commonwealth, Australia also wanted to build up an image of independent diplomacy. In a broad sense, Australia's engagement in the Korean War was a step of hostile acts that the western capitalistic bloc versus the socialistic bloc. In a narrow sense, Australia hoped to put an end to the differences between the United States and itself, and to establish close relationship with the United States in order to set up Australia-America alliance eventually.
