A preliminary Study on Xiongzhou City in Northern Song Dynasty

Being a buffer between Northern Song and Liao, Xiongzhou rose rapidly and became an important gate in Northern Song Dynasty because of its unique geographical location and special historical circumstances. This article aims at analyzing the historical background and geographical environment of the rise of Xiongzhou city and its distinctive roles in military, diplomacy, economy and intelligence collection etc.
