| Abstract: | It has long been debated whether or not carved lacquer was produced during the Kangxi pericxi. On the basis of an analysis of the moulding, colour, carving technique, decoration and marks of seven pieces in the collection of the Palace Museum, the author asserts that carved lacquer was definitely produced in the Kangxi period and, moreover, that it was produced by official workshops of the Suzhou Zhizaoguan (Provider of Supplies). |
