Abstract: | A reference collection of amphibian and reptile bones of the species currently found in the Netherlands is used for the identification of herpetological material from three excavations in the province of North Holland. The presence of the following species could be demonstrated: Rana temporaria L., R. arvalis Nilsson, Bufo bufo L., B. calamita Laur., Natrix natrix L. and Emys orbicularis (L.). These findings imply new records for R. arvalis and E. orbicularis, compared with their present distribution. Ecological implications of these results are discussed. |
