21世纪以来海外华侨华人社会的变迁与特点探析

论文从华侨华人的人口统计特征、华侨华人社会内部的差异性与认同的多元性、与祖籍国联系的密切以及在居住国地位的提高四个方面,分析解读了21世纪以来海外华侨华人社会发生的巨大变化,并就后疫情时代加强华侨华人研究提出几点思考。论文认为,应该客观理性认识日益复杂多变的国际环境;要严格界定和区分“华侨”与“华人”的概念,并且审慎思考“华侨华人”与“华人散居者”这一术语在英文语境中的接轨;应该从国际移民视角审视和看待中国的海外移民和侨务工作,消除偏见误解,为中国移民正名,为中国侨务工作正名。

Changes and Characteristics of Chinese Overseas Society in the 21st Century

Focusing on demographic statistics of the Chinese overseas,their diverse identity,relationship with China,and upward social mobility in host countries,this papers examines significant changes within the overseas Chinese society of the 21st century and contemplates the Chinese Diaspora studies in a post-epidemic era.It argues that the two terms“Chinese sojourners”and“ethnic Chinese”should be differentiated within the context of international politics,especially when the two are juxtaposed to the term“Chinese Diaspora”in an Englishlanguage context.Researchers in China may need to take an international migration studies approach to look into and deal with the Chinese overseas and overseas Chinese affairs.Doing so may rationalize the position of the Chinese government and eliminate racial prejudice against new Chinese migrants.
